Crypto commentator Zach Rector believes Ripple has strong financial incentives to see XRP reach a higher price, raising questions about how far the company could go to support the asset’s growth. His belief centers on Ripple’s substantial XRP holdings and the financial benefits the company stands to gain from an increase in value.
“Ripple has the largest incentive to see XRP at a high price. What makes you think they won’t do everything in their power to see that through?” Rector asked in his tweet.
His question brought different views from XRP holders, with some agreeing that Ripple has a financial reason to support XRP’s market performance while others questioned whether the company’s business activities have delivered meaningful results for the token.
XRP Holders Question Ripple’s Progress
One community member, Ttmoto, challenged the argument by listing several developments involving Ripple, including legal clarity, acquisitions, advertising campaigns in New York City, RLUSD, and new partnerships. Despite these developments, the user noted that XRP’s price performance had remained disappointing.
“XRP price drops immediately following Swell,” Ttmoto wrote, expressing frustration with the difference between Ripple’s business progress and XRP’s market performance.
XRP Army | App also responded to the discussion, criticizing the way some participants approached opposing opinions. The account shared that Rector’s question appeared to dismiss people who disagreed with his position.
Ripple’s XRP Holdings Become Part of the Debate
Other users questioned how much importance Ripple places on XRP’s price compared with its broader business operations.
User Jdjdje suggested that Ripple could view XRP primarily as a means of facilitating transactions on the XRP Ledger, arguing that the company could sell its holdings at different price levels to finance acquisitions.
Hugh Jaynis offered another perspective, estimating Ripple’s XRP holdings at approximately $50 billion and suggesting that gradually selling the tokens at current prices could provide the company with substantial financial resources over several years.
“ A slow release at today’s price ensures fat paychecks for all of them for 20 years,” Jaynis wrote.
Chiara, meanwhile, agreed with Rector’s tweet but maintained that Ripple needed to do more to support XRP.
Ripple’s Business Growth and XRP’s Price
XRP holders have different expectations of Ripple and its responsibility toward the asset. Some believe the company’s substantial holdings give it a strong reason to pursue higher XRP valuations. Others want to see more evidence that Ripple’s expanding business operations translate into sustained demand for XRP.
Ripple continues to develop its payment business, expand RLUSD, and pursue acquisitions and partnerships. However, these developments do not automatically guarantee an increase in XRP’s market price.
