Crypto pundit Crypto X AiMan (@CryptoXAiMan) recently shared a resurfaced interview between Greg Kidd and the Digital Assets Investor. Kidd is one of Ripple’s first 10 employees and optioned 1% of the entire XRP supply.

That option gives Kidd access to 1 billion XRP, which Crypto X AiMan says he can exercise at around $0.003. What Kidd says about the future of XRP makes a case that is hard to ignore.

A $30 Trillion Problem

Somewhere around $30 trillion sits locked in nostro and vostro accounts across the global banking system. That capital does nothing except wait. Banks pre-fund liquidity in foreign currencies worldwide because cross-border transfers require it. Kidd calls this “a dead weight drag on society.”

XRP is built to replace that system. It settles transactions in 3 seconds at less than a penny. A bank holding XRP can replenish its liquidity almost instantly rather than parking enormous capital reserves indefinitely across dozens of fiat currencies. Kidd stated that nostro and vostro liquidity “is going to be replaced by XRP.”

Crypto X AiMan puts a number to what that means. If XRP absorbs even the liquidity currently sitting in those accounts, $30 trillion will flow into XRP. That is one use case.

Banks Will Come, Just Not First

Kidd does not expect banks to lead adoption. He says they are “very far back on that curve.” Money transmitters like MoneyGram moved faster. Some early multinational banks quietly began using XRP to move funds between their own subsidiaries without relying on correspondent banking infrastructure.

Kidd is clear that the industry is “still very, very early on in bank adoption.” More institutions are coming, and the institutional interest XRP has seen over the past few years backs this claim.

Fixed Supply and Growing Demand

XRP has a fixed supply of 100 billion tokens. Kidd compares the demand dynamic to Bitcoin. Just as institutional Bitcoin allocations create aggregate demand against a fixed supply, every financial institution holding XRP for liquidity purposes adds to cumulative demand that the total supply must meet.

Applied across global banking, the supply pressure is substantial. Crypto X AiMan notes the nostro/vostro use case is just the beginning. CBDCs, AI applications, and cross-border payment growth all sit on it as additional demand drivers.

Kidd joined Ripple because he saw it as “a universal ledger, one ledger for all the value in the world.” He says adoption is still early. The numbers suggest the opportunity matches that scope.
