A round trip to the golden pocket

QNT’s September surge carried it from a base near $55.6 to a spike high near $373, a gain of roughly 570%. At Sunday’s intraday low of about $177.9, the pullback had retraced about 61% of that rally, right at the 0.618 level, before buyers pushed price higher while the token is still holding above all three of its daily moving averages despite the slide..

Given back at current price: ~59% of the rally Still held: ~41%

In Fibonacci terms, that is a test of the golden pocket, the zone between the 0.618 and 0.65 retracements of a move and one traders often watch during deep pullbacks within a trend. On this chart, it runs from about $167 to $177.

The 50-day SMA backs up the pocket

Just beneath the pocket, the 50-day SMA sits near $162 and is climbing steeply after the rally. Together, the two form a demand zone from roughly $162 to $177, and as long as QNT holds above it, the breakout structure built in September stays valid.

Momentum has cooled, not collapsed

RSI hit extreme overbought readings during the spike to the peak. The correction has pulled it back to about 46, a touch below its signal line near 50 and close to the neutral midpoint, so the overstretched momentum that preceded the drop has largely been worked off.

Our read: a reset, not a reversal

The slide from the peak looks less like a trend failure and more like a reset of a move that ran too far, too fast. The surge came on heavy volume and stretched price far above its averages, and with momentum now back near neutral, a return toward the rising 50-day SMA fits that picture. Buyers at the pocket are effectively treating the pullback as a discount within the new trend.

If the demand zone holds, QNT can shift from a spike-and-slide pattern into a base built on higher lows.

The other reading is less forgiving. Vertical spikes often retrace most of their gains, and so far the bounce is a single green candle off the low.

What bulls need to see

☐ A daily close above the 0.618 Fib near $177, confirming buyers are treating the pocket as support ☐ RSI crossing back above the 50 midpoint ✕ Deal-breaker: a daily close below the 50-day SMA near $162, the one signal that may invalidate the reset thesis

From the Golden Pocket: Two Ways This Plays Out

Scenarios, not forecasts

Setup

QNT sits just above the pocket, with the 50-day SMA as its last line of support.

Upside

If both boxes on the checklist get ticked, a rebound could test the 0.5 Fib first and the 0.382 Fib after that.

Downside

If the deal-breaker is triggered before the end of October, a deeper retracement toward the 0.786 Fib and the 100-day SMA could follow.

Bigger picture

The longer-term trend turned bullish during the rally, and the 100- and 200-day SMAs still sit far below price. Even the 0.786 zone is more than double the base the rally started from, so that trend would only come into question on a slide toward the 200-day SMA.
