- QNT approaches descending resistance near $197 after a recovery that has not restored September’s trading volume.
- Futures open interest fell approximately 24% between October 26 and 30, indicating a substantial reduction in outstanding exposure.
- Quant’s banking-infrastructure progress provides a fundamental backdrop, but its effect on QNT token demand remains uncertain.
Quant (QNT) approached $200 on October 31 after a volatile week in which derivatives traders reduced outstanding exposure even as the token recovered from its lows. The divergence raises doubts about whether the latest advance represents sustained accumulation or a rebound following position closures.
The Coinbase daily chart showed QNT at $196.12, up 2.25% during the unfinished session, with a descending resistance line converging near its 20-day moving average. A break above that area would challenge October’s corrective trend, but derivatives positioning and spot-market participation offer a more demanding test of the recovery.
QNT Open Interest Drops as Funding Turns Volatile
Derivatives figures from CoinGlass show QNT open interest declining from $101.87 million on October 26 to $77.15 million on October 30, a reduction of approximately 24.3%.
Over the same interval, daily futures turnover fell from $533.11 million to $217.74 million. The contraction indicates that both outstanding exposure and trading activity weakened after the earlier burst of speculation.
Funding-rate data offer another perspective.
On Binance, QNT perpetual funding turned negative during several October 27–30 settlements, including -0.0359% on October 30. Negative funding means short positions pay longs, reflecting the pricing relationship between perpetual futures and the underlying spot market.
Funding subsequently returned to positive territory. The reversal suggests that bearish pressure in perpetual pricing eased, although it does not prove that shorts were liquidated or that new long positions drove the recovery. Fibonomy
The market snapshot recorded $234.38 million in 24-hour futures turnover against $26.67 million in spot trading, an 8.79-to-one ratio. Open interest stood at $84.77 million, above the previous day’s reported historical reading.
Together, the figures point to a market experiencing substantial repositioning. They do not establish the direction of net exposure: every futures contract has a long and short side, and a change in dollar-denominated open interest can reflect both contract activity and price movements.
An additional venue-level snapshot reinforces the need for caution. Data covering six exchanges showed approximately $215,580 in reported 24-hour liquidations, with long positions accounting for around $146,630. That is evidence of some forced selling, not confirmation of a large liquidation cascade. Coverage differs across providers, so these figures should not be combined as if they represented identical exchange universes.
Coinbase Volume Has Yet to Match September’s Breakout
The updated TradingView chart shows a pronounced decline in daily Coinbase volume since September’s explosive rally.
The strongest volume expansion accompanied the initial acceleration, when QNT surged from its earlier trading range toward $300. Subsequent rebounds have generally occurred on smaller volume bars, suggesting that recent buying participation has been less intense than during the original advance.
The October 31 candle reached $198.27 before retreating toward $196.12. Its reported volume was approximately 15,540 QNT.
Because the daily session remained open, that figure cannot be directly compared with completed daily bars. Confirmation would require evaluating the final volume alongside the closing price.

The 14-day RSI stood at 50.61, above its RSI moving average of 48.85. Momentum has recovered toward neutral territory, but the indicator offers limited evidence of a sustained directional reversal without confirmation from price and volume.
Banking Infrastructure Progress Adds a Fundamental Dimension
Quant’s price action also follows a significant development in its institutional business.
On September 24, the company announced that it was powering The Clearing House’s On-Chain Money Initiative in the United States, extending its role in infrastructure designed to connect banking systems with tokenized money.
Quant also launched its Fusion Multi-Ledger Rollup on mainnet earlier in 2026, expanding its interoperability offering beyond conventional cross-chain connectivity. These developments strengthen the company’s commercial narrative in institutional digital finance.
However, enterprise adoption and QNT token appreciation are not interchangeable.
The relevant investment question is whether increased use of Quant’s infrastructure creates measurable demand for QNT through network fees, licensing arrangements, token requirements or other economic mechanisms. The announcements alone do not quantify that relationship.
That distinction matters after September’s sharp repricing. A stronger business pipeline may support investor expectations, but sustaining the token’s valuation requires evidence that those expectations translate into economic activity benefiting QNT holders.
The Price and Positioning Conditions That Matter
The immediate resistance area combines the descending trendline with the 20-day SMA at $196.95. The next substantial Fibonacci reference sits at $214.17.
On the downside, the 50-day SMA at $177.48 closely aligns with the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement at $176.77. A failure there would leave the descending channel’s lower boundary, currently around $150–$155, as the next chart-based reference.

The stronger bullish case would combine a daily close above resistance with expanding Coinbase volume, stable or rising open interest and funding that does not indicate increasingly crowded leveraged positioning.
A breakout accompanied by declining open interest would be less convincing because position closures could account for part of the advance. Conversely, rising open interest with increasingly positive funding could signal fresh speculative demand but also greater vulnerability to a reversal.
QNT’s immediate test is whether buyers can secure a daily close above its declining resistance near $197 while participation improves. Until then, the recovery remains unconfirmed despite the improvement in momentum.
