Revolut is dealing with a widespread service disruption that has left customers unable to make payments, update balances or complete digital asset transactions, according to the company and multiple news reports.

The disruption was confirmed on the morning of 20 October 2026, with customers reporting problems accessing the app and making card payments. Downdetector showed a spike for Revolut around 8am with more than 1,500 issues reported. Reports had passed 2,000 by 9am, with most of them (63%) concerning the app, 20% transfers and 8% logging in.

What Revolut has said

The UK-based digital bank has said customer funds and personal data are not at risk. It said all customers' money and data are safe, that it has been working on the issue since it was identified this morning, and apologised to anyone affected.

The statement did not specify the cause of the disruption, how many customers were affected or when full service would resume. In a separate post on X, the company said some services may be inaccessible and that its engineering team was working to restore full service as quickly as possible.

The scope of the problem is broad. Revolut's online system status listed 31 services as partially unavailable, including card payments, transfers, ATM withdrawals, premium services and signing in to accounts. BleepingComputer reported that the affected services also included currency exchange, stock trading and live support chat. Cryptocurrency services were among those affected.

Revolut has not named a cause, but some reports point to a third-party provider. journal(.)ie reported that the disruption is understood to stem from an outage at a third-party provider, noting that Google Cloud has reported problems affecting multiple services in its Europe West region, including intermittent network failures. This link has not been confirmed by Revolut.

The scale of the user base adds to the impact. The fintech serves more than 80m personal customers worldwide and more than 800,000 business customers, with around 13m customers estimated in the UK. Lloyds customers also reported problems on the same morning. A Lloyds spokesperson said its mobile app was not down but that it was aware some customers were having issues with online services.

Customers who rely on Revolut for payments or crypto trading may want to keep a backup card or account available until the company confirms that services are fully restored. Revolut has not yet given a restoration time.
