Ripple and Robinhood announced a strategic partnership on October 27 to integrate the RLUSD stablecoin into retail trading, institutional settlement and corporate treasury operations. The agreement connects Ripple’s digital-asset infrastructure with Robinhood’s brokerage and cryptocurrency businesses, extending an existing relationship beyond exchange services.
According to the joint announcement published through Business Wire, RLUSD is already supported on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood. Availability in the main Robinhood app is planned for later this year.
The arrangement gives Ripple another distribution channel for its dollar-backed token while allowing Robinhood to combine stablecoin settlement, financing and cash-management services through a single infrastructure provider.
RLUSD Moves Beyond Exchange Trading
The partnership covers several distinct financial activities rather than a single stablecoin integration.
Robinhood plans to use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement, extending the token’s role within Bitstamp’s institutional business. The companies are also expanding their relationship through Ripple Prime, which provides financing and access to digital-asset markets.
Institutional settlement presents a different commercial opportunity from retail stablecoin trading.
Trading customers may hold RLUSD as a dollar-denominated asset between transactions. Institutional participants can potentially use the same token to transfer settlement funds, manage collateral and move liquidity between supported counterparties.
A blockchain transfer can operate outside conventional banking hours, but completing an institutional transaction still depends on custody arrangements, counterparty obligations and access to redemption liquidity.
The value of the integration will therefore depend partly on whether RLUSD becomes a frequently used settlement asset rather than simply another stablecoin listed on an exchange.
Robinhood Adds Ripple Treasury to Its Financial Operations
Robinhood will also integrate Ripple Treasury into its internal financial infrastructure.
The platform supports cash positioning, liquidity management, forecasting, payments and risk management. It also provides intercompany netting, which allows a multinational business to offset amounts owed between subsidiaries instead of processing every obligation as a separate payment.
For a brokerage operating across different markets, these functions influence how efficiently cash can be moved and allocated.
Consider two subsidiaries that owe each other $10 million and $8 million. Netting those obligations reduces the required transfer to $2 million, potentially lowering the number of payments, reconciliation tasks and associated transaction costs.
Ripple’s October 26 Treasury announcement also introduced capabilities designed to coordinate conventional treasury workflows with digital payment infrastructure.
Robinhood’s adoption provides a corporate use case for that technology, although the companies have not published a financial savings target.
The announcement does not indicate that Robinhood will replace its bank deposits with RLUSD. Treasury software can manage conventional cash balances alongside digital assets without requiring a wholesale conversion of corporate reserves.

Ripple Prime’s financing relationship with Bitstamp also gives institutional customers access to lending and margin services across approximately 20 digital assets.
The integration may reduce the need for institutional clients to coordinate execution, financing and settlement across separate providers.
However, its commercial value cannot yet be calculated from the announcement. Financing balances, fees, collateral terms and transaction volumes remain undisclosed.
RLUSD Still Holds a Small Share of the Stablecoin Market
Ripple reported that RLUSD’s market capitalization had exceeded $2.5 billion since its December 2024 launch.
Against a broader stablecoin market exceeding $300 billion, that represents approximately 0.83%, using the companies’ reported figures as reference points.
The calculation is illustrative because both figures are rounded and market capitalization changes continuously.
RLUSD’s comparatively modest market share leaves room for additional circulation if Robinhood customers and institutional counterparties begin using the token.
Yet distribution alone does not guarantee higher outstanding supply. The same stablecoins can circulate through numerous transactions without requiring additional issuance.
The partnership also arrives immediately after Ripple announced final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish Ripple National Trust Bank.
According to Ripple, the trust bank’s approved activities include managing segregated RLUSD reserves and providing fiduciary digital-asset custody services.
RLUSD will continue to be issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, which is supervised by the New York Department of Financial Services. BNY remains its primary reserve custodian.
The additional federal trust-bank framework strengthens Ripple’s institutional infrastructure, although regulatory supervision should not be confused with a guarantee against stablecoin redemption or operational risk.
What the Agreement Means for XRP and HOOD
The partnership expands Ripple’s business relationship with Robinhood, but the immediate financial implications differ for RLUSD, XRP and Robinhood shareholders.
RLUSD is the stablecoin being distributed and used for settlement. XRP remains the native asset of the XRP Ledger, where it is used to pay network transaction fees.
Greater RLUSD settlement activity on the XRP Ledger could increase network usage. That relationship does not establish a proportional increase in XRP demand or price.
For Robinhood, the relevant financial outcomes would include additional customer activity, institutional trading and financing revenue, and measurable improvements in treasury efficiency.
Three developments will help determine whether the agreement produces a material business impact: the launch of RLUSD in Robinhood’s main app, institutional settlement activity through Bitstamp and the implementation of Ripple Treasury.
Until transaction volumes and commercial terms become available, the agreement is best understood as an expansion of financial infrastructure rather than a quantifiable earnings catalyst.
