Julian Berridi, who serves as product manager at Ripple, has revealed that updated versions of xrpl.js and xrpl-py now support XRP Ledger version 3.3.0. Berridi shared this news in a recent post on X, marking a key development for the firm, which is a leading provider of enterprise blockchain and crypto solutions aiming to facilitate real-time cross-border payments.

New updates for developer tools

xrpl.js is Ripple’s JavaScript and TypeScript API that allows developers to interact with the XRP Ledger across Node.js environments and web browsers. By providing robust access for web-based and server-side developers, it streamlines building applications that connect with XRP Ledger.

On the other hand, xrpl-py targets the Python developer community, enabling streamlined access to the XRP Ledger ecosystem via a native Python library. This package handles complex tasks such as serialization and transaction signing, providing Python-based methods and models for interacting with transactions and core API server objects.

Client libraries like xrpl.js and xrpl-py are designed to reduce the complexity involved in accessing, processing, and presenting data from the XRP Ledger. By aligning output and structure to the conventions of their respective programming languages, they help lower the barrier to entry for developers looking to build on XRP Ledger.

XRP Ledger 3.3.0 and protocol amendments

XRP Ledger’s reference server implementation, xrpld, reached version 3.3.0 with its launch on August 6, 2026. The upgrade was accompanied by changes to multiple protocol amendments, representing an important step in the network’s ongoing development.

Several longstanding amendments, including Clawback, fixDisallowIncomingV1, fixInnerObjTemplate, fixNFTokenReserve, and fixUniversalNumber, have been retired and are now permanent features of the protocol. These amendments aimed to enhance security, efficiency, and broader utility of the XRP Ledger.

A notable addition in this upgrade is the fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment. This amendment packages several fixes covering Single Asset Vaults, the Lending Protocol, Automated Market Makers, the permissioned decentralized exchange (DEX), Checks, and pseudo-accounts.

According to recent data from XRPScan, the fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment is close to achieving majority support among validators, with current consensus at 77.14%.

Developer and community response

Ripple’s new releases of xrpl.js and xrpl-py are expected to improve the development experience for building on XRP Ledger, primarily by keeping tools current with the latest protocol features and amendments.

Notably, the fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment, a collection of fixes for Single Asset Vaults, the Lending Protocol, Automated Market Makers, the permissioned DEX, Checks, and pseudo-accounts introduced by xrpld version 3.3.0, is approaching majority, currently at 77.14% according to XRPScan data.

Members of the XRP Ledger community are closely monitoring these protocol advancements, particularly as the fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment nears the consensus threshold needed for full adoption.
