Ripple CEO Joins Private CLARITY Act Talks as XRP Watches Closely
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse yesterday joined a high-level effort to advance the CLARITY Act, putting Ripple and XRP firmly in the spotlight as Washington debates the future of U.S. crypto regulation.
According to former Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett, a small group of crypto executives met privately with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick ahead of President Donald Trump’s White House meeting with industry leaders. The group included Garlinghouse, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Andreessen Horowitz partner Chris Dixon, and Arjun Sethi.
More importantly, the discussions centered on why passing the CLARITY Act could be crucial for the U.S. crypto industry, particularly its potential to support jobs, economic growth and efforts to bring crypto companies and entrepreneurs back to the country.
CLARITY Act Push Intensifies
The executives also reportedly discussed hurdles facing the legislation, including ethics concerns, as well as how the White House could help build a path toward bipartisan support.
The development comes as lawmakers continue negotiations over the bill, while Senator Cynthia Lummis increases pressure on Democrats to back clearer rules for digital assets.
For Ripple, the issue carries added weight. The company has spent years dealing with regulatory uncertainty in the U.S., most notably through its high-profile legal battle with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
A clearer framework for classifying digital assets could give Ripple and other crypto companies greater confidence to develop and expand blockchain-based financial products in the American market.
Why XRP Is Watching
For XRP, the biggest potential catalyst is regulatory clarity. If the CLARITY Act establishes clearer boundaries between digital commodities and securities, it could reduce uncertainty for institutions entering the crypto market.
Therefore, this could create a more favorable environment for Ripple’s payments, stablecoin and tokenization businesses while supporting broader blockchain adoption.
Is Garlinghouse taking the driver’s seat? Well, rather than waiting on the sidelines, Ripple is apparently engaging directly with policymakers as Washington weighs the legislation.
If lawmakers and the White House can overcome the remaining hurdles, the CLARITY Act could mark a major shift toward clearer U.S. crypto rules, and give Ripple and XRP a significantly more favorable environment in which to grow.
