Ripple is putting more weight behind the $XRP token with a new official social account and a dedicated website aimed at everyday users rather than institutions.

The official @XRP account on X went live on October 19, followed by the xrp.org website. The profile states that the account is managed by Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation (XRPLF) and that its posts are not investment advice. The launch came more than 14 years after the cryptocurrency's creation.

What xrp.org offers

The site works as a plain-language explainer for the token, covering its utility, its status and how to buy it, and it also carries a professionally produced advert. According to Bitcoin.com, the first screen of xrp.org spends much of its space explaining what XRP is not, including a meme, a company share, a stablecoin, or something mined or issued by Ripple. The site then cites 3 to 5 second settlement, fees under a penny, and a fixed supply of 100 billion tokens created in 2012.

Until now, readers looking for an official source had limited options. They typically landed on ripple.com, a company site, or xrpl.org, which is developer documentation, and neither was built to explain what the asset is and how to hold it safely.

The advert has drawn attention. Bitcoin.com reported that the account passed 111,000 followers within about 13 hours of its first post, and its debut ad had drawn more than 3.7 million views. CoinTurk described the promotional video as a casual conversation about the benefits of cryptocurrency that emphasises ease of use.

A shift beyond institutional focus?

Ripple has spent recent years largely courting banks and financial institutions. The new channels point to a broader audience, including the XRP community. CoinTurk noted that the recent initiatives seem to prioritise reaching a broader audience, unlike prior communications that largely targeted industry insiders or focused on technical aspects. The separate @XRP handle also helps distance the digital asset's identity from Ripple, the fintech company behind its development.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse welcomed the account, with CoinGape reporting that he called the launch "a long time coming." The timing is also notable, as the launch came ahead of the Ripple Swell 2026 event later in October.

It is not yet clear what the account will be used for beyond official updates. Reporting indicates that Ripple has not said what the account will be used for beyond official XRP updates, and nothing points to a specific date or event. The launch also has no direct bearing on the network itself. CCN noted that it establishes a dedicated communication channel for XRP but does not change the cryptocurrency's governance or underlying technology. Likewise, the launch of an official XRP account does not directly affect token price or trading activity.

Readers should also be cautious. xrp.org itself warns readers about phishing links, fake giveaways and impersonation accounts.
