Ripple has minted 30 million Ripple USD (RLUSD) in a single transaction on its stablecoin treasury, continuing a recent trend of large-scale RLUSD issuances. RLUSD is a USD-pegged stablecoin issued by Ripple, a leading blockchain-based payments company focused on facilitating fast and cost-effective global money transfers.

Large-scale RLUSD minting and burning accelerate

The latest minting event, recorded by the Ripple Stablecoin Tracker, comes as the RLUSD treasury continues to ramp up significant issuance activity. As of October 7, RLUSD’s market capitalization stands at approximately $2.53 billion, according to CoinGecko.

In addition to the new 30 million RLUSD mint, several major issuance transactions have recently taken place. On September 21, the treasury minted 20 million RLUSD, followed later that same day by another 20.5 million tokens. In total, the RLUSD Treasury issued 40.5 million RLUSD within a single day.

Over the two-day period of September 21 and 22, issuance totalled 59.5 million RLUSD. These figures highlight the scale and frequency of RLUSD minting as Ripple moves to meet the demand for its stablecoin within the ecosystem.

Issuance and redemptions shape supply

Despite frequent large mints, significant burns are also taking place. On September 22, the RLUSD treasury destroyed 14.9 million and 14.95 million RLUSD in two separate transactions, totaling 29.85 million tokens burned in a single day.

This burn activity illustrates that increases in minted RLUSD do not always equate to a permanent rise in circulating supply. The active process of minting and burning RLUSD is central to the mechanism Ripple uses for stablecoin issuance and redemption.

Ripple’s documentation outlines: institutional customers can acquire RLUSD by depositing fiat currency, and tokens are issued to match these deposits. Likewise, when RLUSD is redeemed, it is burned as fiat is returned to the customer.

This cycle ensures that RLUSD’s circulating supply is closely matched to demand among institutional participants, preventing oversupply or excessive liquidity.

Mini dictionary: RLUSD, short for Ripple USD, is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar and issued on Ripple’s network. The stablecoin is designed for institutional use, providing on-chain settlement and redemption with transparency and regulatory compliance measures integrated into its issuance process.

Ongoing treasury activity reflects institutional demand

September was marked by repeated large RLUSD transactions. On September 11, a single transaction saw 10 million RLUSD minted, while total minting on the XRP Ledger that day reached 21.9 million tokens. At the start of the month, minting was even higher, with 143.1 million RLUSD issued on September 1.

These ongoing mints and burns highlight Ripple’s strategy to manage RLUSD’s supply dynamically, responding to inflows and outflows from ecosystem participants.

The recent 30 million RLUSD mint forms part of an ongoing sequence of large mint and burn transactions as Ripple manages the issuance and redemption cycle for RLUSD.
