Ripple and Brevan Howard Deepen Ties
@Ripple has expanded its relationship with Brevan Howard, one of the world's leading alternative investment managers, in a deal that positions Ripple Prime as a key infrastructure provider bridging crypto and traditional finance. Under the expanded agreement, Ripple Prime will provide multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing, and financing services to Brevan Howard funds.
Brevan Howard manages roughly $33 to $34 billion in assets, spanning its flagship macro strategies and newer vehicles. The firm no longer views itself as a pure rates and currency trader. Founder Alan Howard has described it as evolving into a broader alternative manager, with a dedicated crypto unit, Brevan Howard Digital, managing billions in cryptocurrency and blockchain-related investments.
The deal reflects growing demand from top-tier investment managers for prime brokerage solutions across traditional and digital markets within a regulated, enterprise-grade framework. Brevan Howard will gain access to comprehensive prime services spanning multiple asset classes, benefiting from Ripple Prime's unified platform designed to enhance capital efficiency and operational simplicity.
A Relationship Built Over Time
The expanded relationship builds on Brevan Howard's existing support for Ripple. Funds managed by affiliates of Brevan Howard participated in Ripple's $500 million strategic investment in 2025, underscoring confidence in Ripple's growth trajectory and long-term vision.
Ripple Prime President Noel Kimmel and Brevan Howard Group COO Alan McGroarty have both spoken to the strategic logic of the arrangement. McGroarty noted that "as digital and traditional markets become more interconnected," the need for institutional-quality digital asset infrastructure is growing, adding that Ripple has built a platform expected to provide investment teams with increased operational ease and capital efficiency.
Ripple Prime, formerly known as Hidden Road, was acquired by Ripple in April 2025 and is regarded as one of the largest non-bank prime brokers globally, clearing over $3 trillion annually across more than 300 institutional clients. The Brevan Howard mandate adds a significant name to that client roster and signals continued momentum in Ripple Prime's push to serve institutional players across both traditional and digital markets.
