Ripple has pledged a significant amount of $300,000 in emergency aid following the catastrophic floods in Nepal and Tibet. This initiative aims to address essential needs in the disaster-hit regions, collaborating with World Central Kitchen and Mercy Corps for efficient allocation of resources.
Scope of the Aid
This financial support, as announced on August 29 via social media, will prioritize emergency food distribution and efforts to provide clean drinking water and sanitation. The relief is focused on meeting the immediate humanitarian requirements of communities affected by the floods.
Ripple, 300 thousand dollars will finance emergency meal deliveries and water and sanitation projects.
The floods have inflicted severe damage, particularly in the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts near the Chinese border. According to data from World Central Kitchen, the disaster has resulted in over 100 fatalities, leaving many others missing.
What Caused the Disaster?
The catastrophe was triggered by a glacier-related icefall, which temporarily blocked the Lhende Khola River, a tributary of the Bhotekoshi River. The subsequent surge in water flow downstream exacerbated the situation, causing widespread devastation.
Concern is growing over the potential for a second wave of flooding due to a debris dam that formed a lake after the initial landslide. The affected area urgently requires ongoing search and rescue operations as well as essential life-support measures.
Ripple’s Track Record in Humanitarian Aid
Ripple has long been engaged in projects focused on humanitarian aid and social impact. The company previously partnered with Water.org in October 2025 to combat water and food insecurity.
The company, since 2020, has been working with World Central Kitchen to deliver millions of meals to disaster-hit communities and first responders.
Ripple notes that this partnership has also expanded to include their payment technologies, enhancing financial infrastructure within humanitarian operations.
- The company’s 2025 Impact Report revealed that employees raised $550,000 globally for civil organizations.
- 80% of employees participated in donations and volunteer programs under Ripple Impact.
- Since 2018, employee donations and company matching contributions have exceeded $2 million.
The latest support to the flood-affected regions demonstrates Ripple’s ongoing commitment to collaborate with international relief organizations in times of crisis.
