In its newly released Swell 2026 agenda, Ripple lists “the first year of a spot XRP ETF” among the core topics for its Institutional track, alongside bank-grade digital-asset infrastructure and the role of AI in moving money. The event will bring roughly 1,500 participants to New York and, for the first time, combine Swell with the XRP Ledger-focused Apex summit and UBRI Connect.
The shift is notable because XRP ETFs only became a regulated U.S. investment category recently. Ripple itself argued earlier this year that spot ETFs had moved XRP from OTC desks and private placements into a broader institutional allocation conversation.
XRP ETFs Have Built a Meaningful Institutional Base
The first year has already produced a sizable pool of regulated XRP exposure.
Coinpaper has reported cumulative ETF inflows reaching roughly $1.7 billion by mid-September, even while XRP remained far below its all-time high. That divergence has made institutional demand one of the more important themes surrounding the asset.
More recently, the SEC declared a post-effective amendment for the Bitwise XRP ETF effective on Sept. 28, showing that the product ecosystem is still evolving rather than simply settling after its initial launch phase.
Swell Is Looking More Like a TradFi Conference
The ETF discussion will sit inside an increasingly traditional-finance-heavy event.
Ripple’s announced speakers include executives from Intercontinental Exchange, alongside representatives from banks, asset managers, fintech companies and crypto infrastructure firms. That puts XRP ETFs in the same discussion as tokenized collateral, bank-grade crypto infrastructure and institutional market plumbing rather than treating them as a standalone crypto product.
That institutional framing matters because ETF demand has often diverged from XRP’s spot price. In late August, XRP ETFs recorded their strongest week of 2026 with $110.49 million of inflows, while XRP itself was falling. The ETF-price divergence suggested regulated demand alone is not enough to dictate short-term price action.
