In Brief:

  • Ripple integrated XRP and RLUSD with Stripe and Tempo’s protocol, enabling AI agents to purchase digital services autonomously online securely.
  • Permission Delegation lets institutions restrict automated transactions, protect private keys, and assign AI agents controlled payment responsibilities safely across accounts.
  • XRP derivatives open interest increased slightly, while declining trading volume showed broader market participation remained limited despite Ripple’s payment announcement.

Ripple has brought XRP and RLUSD payments to AI agents through Stripe and Tempo’s Machine Payments Protocol. According to RippleX product head Jazzi Cooper, the XRPL AI Starter Kit now supports the machine-focused payment standard.

Developers can use the toolkit to build applications that allow autonomous agents to make payments through the XRP Ledger. These agents can purchase data, computing resources, software access, and other internet services without requiring approval for every transaction.

Consequently, XRP can support settlement, while Ripple USD offers a stable payment option linked to the United States dollar. Therefore, Ripple wants developers to access XRP and RLUSD wherever they build applications for automated commerce. Ripple previously integrated the XRPL AI Starter Kit with x402, a machine-payment protocol originally developed by Coinbase.

XRP Ledger Features Support Controlled Automated Payments

Ripple’s expanding partnerships place XRP and RLUSD within several systems supporting communication between software agents and online services. However, the XRP Ledger provides account features that could help developers manage risks connected with automated spending.

XRP Ledger version 3.3.0 introduced Permission Delegation, which enables users to assign specific transaction permissions to another account. An institution could authorize an agent to complete selected payments without granting access to every account function.

Moreover, account owners could retain control of their main private keys while restricting transactions an AI agent can perform. These protections may support business applications requiring automated payments alongside defined security and spending limits.

According to CoinGlass, total XRP futures open interest increased 0.70% within one hour to approximately $2.76 billion. Binance recorded a 1.84% increase in XRP futures open interest, while CME registered a 0.48% decline.

Meanwhile, XRP trading volume fell 40% during the measured 24-hour period, indicating weaker participation across spot markets. The mixed figures suggest traders acknowledged the announcement without creating a decisive change in XRP’s wider market direction.

Ripple’s integration expands the practical payment channels available for XRP and RLUSD within the developing autonomous software economy. However, its broader effect will depend on developer adoption and demand for services permitting AI agents to spend independently.
