@CantonNetwork has announced that @Ripple's institutional custody platform has integrated the Canton Network, marking a notable convergence between two of the more significant players in institutional digital asset infrastructure.

What the Integration Actually Delivers

The support arrives with Ripple Custody version 1.43, which launched on October 5, 2026. Ripple Custody now supports Canton, infrastructure built for institutional tokenization, settlement and repo, with institutions able to custody and transfer Canton Coin ($CC) and CIP-56 tokens through the platform.

Ripple is using a bring-your-own-validator (BYOV) model, meaning clients connect the custody platform to validators they or their node providers already operate. Signing keys remain in the customer's own vault, whether that is a hardware security module (HSM) or a key management service (KMS).

Ripple Custody applies its existing policy controls and audit trail to Canton custody, balances, transaction history, and transfers. The platform also supports pre-approval for incoming transfers, and lets institutions accept, reject, or withdraw two-step transfer offers.

There are defined limits to the current rollout. Canton support is available only through the API for now, with no direct support for arbitrary Canton application commands.

Why Canton Matters for Institutional Finance

Canton Network ($CC) is a public, privacy-enabled Layer 1 blockchain purpose-built to bridge traditional finance with the on-chain world, focusing on institutional-grade compliance and real-world asset (RWA) tokenization.Developed by Digital Asset, it addresses a core problem for Wall Street at the protocol level: in multi-party transactions, each participant sees only their own data.

Canton's institutional base already includes Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas, and BNY Mellon. Broadridge's platform processes multibillion-dollar repo transactions through it every day, while clearing giant DTCC tokenizes U.S. Treasuries on these rails.

For $XRP holders, the integration reinforces the complementary nature of the two networks rather than any competitive rivalry. Ripple's custody infrastructure now sits across both its own ledger and a network that handles some of the largest institutional transaction volumes in the sector, a positioning that could benefit both $CC and $XRP over the medium term.
