Robinhood Chain Expands Its On-Chain Equity Catalogue
@Robinhoodcrypto has added 100 new stock tokens to Robinhood Chain, pushing the platform's total on-chain equity offering past 190 assets. The expansion gives international retail traders broader access to fractional share ownership managed directly through supported wallets, without needing a traditional brokerage account.
Robinhood Chain is a Layer 2 blockchain built on the Arbitrum platform, designed specifically for real-world assets and DeFi.The chain has adopted Chainlink as its official data and cross-chain oracle to power Robinhood Stock Tokens, including assets tracking names such as NVDA, GOOG, and AAPL.
24/7 Trading for Global Users, With Restrictions
Stock Tokens enable users in over 120 countries to trade tokenized US stocks 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with DeFi composability. Traders in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada remain excluded from the product.
Eligible holders can trade around the clock on Robinhood Chain, place tokens into lending pools, or use them as collateral. The ability to use stock tokens as collateral or within lending protocols marks a meaningful step beyond what traditional brokerages offer, integrating equity exposure directly into DeFi workflows.
It is worth noting that these tokens are structured as debt instruments and carry no legal ownership rights in the underlying shares, a distinction regulators have flagged for closer scrutiny. Robinhood Chain's stock tokens are technically debt securities, meaning holders receive no shareholder rights.
The blockchain's launch places Robinhood in a growing category of corporate-backed networks, where crypto and payments companies are increasingly building their own rails rather than simply relying on existing public blockchains. Coinbase's Base is among the most prominent comparable examples in that space.
