The South Korean technology conglomerate Samsung is currently negotiating to inject approximately €1 billion into Mistral, a French artificial intelligence venture, according to a Wednesday report from the Financial Times. The proposed funding round could establish Mistral’s worth at around €20 billion ($22.81 billion).
Reuters indicated it was unable to independently confirm the Financial Times reporting.
If completed, this valuation would mark a dramatic increase from the €11.7 billion figure Mistral commanded during its €1.7 billion Series C financing completed in September 2025—effectively doubling within less than twelve months.

Mistral emerged in 2023, founded by veteran researchers who previously worked at Google DeepMind and Meta. Samsung isn’t the sole major technology corporation strengthening its relationship with Mistral. Microsoft makes Mistral’s artificial intelligence models available via its Azure cloud computing platform, providing the French startup with entry to an extensive global enterprise client network.
Additionally, Mistral secured $830 million in debt financing this March, earmarked specifically for developing data center facilities in France and Sweden.
