Securitize and Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A. announced on Tuesday that Securitize is now issuing and redeeming stablecoins directly through the federally chartered Anchorage bank, enabling a streamlined process without third-party intermediaries.
Direct stablecoin issuance and custody
Under this new arrangement, Anchorage issues the tokens, provides custody, and manages transaction settlements, ensuring that all steps occur within a single federally regulated institution. Securitize, a platform that supports the infrastructure for tokenized assets, confirmed the partnership on X, noting, “one federally chartered bank handles the mint-to-redemption process.”
The announcement did not clarify which specific stablecoins Securitize utilizes under this collaboration. Anchorage’s stablecoin issuance includes USDtb, launched in cooperation with Ethena Labs, and USA₮, developed alongside Tether. Both digital assets are part of Anchorage’s broader efforts to provide regulated, on-chain financial solutions.
Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A. is a federally chartered crypto-native bank offering custody and settlement services for digital assets, while Securitize is a NYSE-listed company specializing in tokenization technology for institutions.
Mini dictionary: USDtb is a US dollar-denominated stablecoin issued by Anchorage Digital Bank in partnership with Ethena Labs, designed for institutional digital asset markets. USA₮ is a separate stablecoin project involving Tether, intended to provide regulated digital dollar liquidity through a federally regulated bank.
Institutional tokenization and reserve transparency
Securitize’s platform is used by major investment firms including BlackRock, Apollo, KKR, VanEck, BNY, and Hamilton Lane to issue tokenized funds, and currently hosts more than $4 billion in assets, according to data provided by Anchorage.
Carlos Domingo, chairman and CEO of Securitize, emphasized the importance of regulatory oversight, explaining that for tokenization to succeed at scale, “the dollar side of every transaction has to hold up to the same scrutiny as the securities side.” He added that Anchorage provides Securitize with “direct access to digital dollars issued under federal oversight, custodied by the same institution that issues them.”
Carlos Domingo highlighted that a unified process at a federally regulated institution ensures transparency and trust in tokenized fund operations, aligning the scrutiny on digital dollars with that already applied to securities.
Nathan McCauley, co-founder and CEO of Anchorage Digital, commented, “Regulated issuance is what lets tokenization reach institutional scale.”
Anchorage and Securitize have collaborated in the past. As of August 31, roughly 99% of USDtb’s approximately $530 million reserves were held in BlackRock’s BUIDL fund, which Securitize tokenizes. Anchorage cited its attested reserve report for these figures, alongside rwa.xyz data showing that the tokenized real-world asset market increased to $31 billion in March, up from $23 billion at the close of 2025.

Broader expansion and regulatory environment
Securitize has been working to expand its presence in 2024, introducing tokenized U.S. stocks on the Solana blockchain and partnering with South Korean technology firm LG CNS to develop solutions for tokenized funds and stablecoins.
The direct minting deal between Securitize and Anchorage was finalized a day before the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the regulatory body overseeing national banks such as Anchorage, issued its final stablecoin policy under the GENIUS Act. This regulatory update is expected to shape procedures for stablecoin issuance by federally chartered banks.
