$SEI holders are voting on SIP-6, a governance proposal to move @SeiNetwork to Autobahn, the new consensus system at the centre of its Giga upgrade. Every vote cast so far is in favour, and turnout has already cleared the threshold needed for the proposal to pass. The Defiant reports that the vote has cleared quorum ahead of a Nov. 5 close.
What SIP-6 Would Change
Sei has described SIP-6 as the step that would make it the first multi-proposer EVM chain. According to a KuCoin News summary of the proposal, Autobahn uses 40 validators streaming transactions in parallel lanes with deterministic ordering. The same summary says the design targets 200,000 transactions per second and 250 millisecond finality, and aims to reduce censorship and MEV risks.
In practical terms, every validator adds transactions at the same time, so no single validator can block or delay a trade. Sei says it has settled transactions in under a quarter of a second in tests.
The Sei documentation says that on an internal 40-node devnet, Giga finalized transaction ordering in under 250 ms and sustained more than 5 gigagas per second. Under the design, every validator proposes with its own data lane, and consensus finalizes only the transaction order while execution runs asynchronously.
A yes vote would not switch Autobahn on straight away. The Defiant notes that a public testnet and security audits must precede activation. KuCoin's summary likewise says there is no immediate user impact until mainnet activation, which would follow audits and testing.
Giga Manifesto and the 200,000 TPS Target
The vote coincided with the publication of Sei's Giga Manifesto, which pitches Giga as the base for trading tokenized stocks on full onchain order books. The manifesto targets more than 200,000 transactions per second.
That figure is consistent with Sei's wider messaging. A Sei blog post describes Giga as a multi-proposer EVM with sub-400ms finality and 200,000 TPS, being built for trading at scale. Crypto Briefing reported that the first public Giga roadmap, published in late May, targeted over 200,000 transactions per second and sub-400 millisecond finality, against earlier throughput benchmarks of roughly 5,000 to 12,500 transactions per second.
The target has not yet been demonstrated on mainnet. The Sei documentation states that the 200,000 TPS figure is a separate roadmap target for the Autobahn public testnet, distinct from the 5 gigagas per second result on the internal devnet.
Sei's Giga plan also includes the Ares execution client and Eidos state management, alongside Autobahn consensus, according to a KuCoin News report on the roadmap.
