Shiba Inu has witnessed a sharp increase in exchange outflows, with the seven-day moving average jumping nearly 62% over a short period. This trend arrives as SHIB attempts to steady itself after one of its most turbulent trading sessions of the month. The surge in outflows suggests more investors are moving tokens away from centralized exchanges into self-custody.

On-chain data shows shifting supply

Recent on-chain data shows that the Exchange Outflow (MA7) indicator climbed to approximately 630.8 billion SHIB, marking a 5.9% daily gain and a 62% acceleration compared to prior hours. Rising outflows are usually treated as a sign that selling pressure may ease, as coins sent to private wallets are often held rather than sold in the short term.

At the same time, overall exchange reserves increased moderately to around 87 trillion SHIB, while total exchange netflows also posted a slight uptick. The number of active and receiving addresses improved, indicating that SHIB network activity has maintained strength following the recent price volatility rather than dropping off.

Price action highlights mixed market sentiment

SHIB’s price action reflects the complexity in current investor sentiment. The token initiated an explosive breakout, approaching the 200-day moving average, but a swift reversal erased much of those gains as traders quickly moved to lock in profits. This is especially evident on the daily chart, which showed a notable upper wick, underscoring the speed of the selloff after the rally.

Currently, SHIB trades at about $0.00000462, remaining above both its 50-day and 100-day moving averages. These moving averages, which previously acted as points of resistance, are now providing support after months of downward price action. The 200-day moving average, near $0.00000500, remains a significant resistance level that Shiba Inu bulls have not yet breached.

Momentum and technical indicators

Momentum indicators have also reset following the recent rally. The Relative Strength Index (RSI), which briefly signaled overbought conditions, has slipped back toward a neutral reading of 50, reducing the immediate risk of technical exhaustion and creating space for further upward attempts if buyers return.

The question facing analysts is whether ongoing exchange outflows point to true long-term accumulation or merely short-lived repositioning after heightened volatility. If SHIB outflows continue to rise and exchange reserves begin to fall, this would support a more optimistic outlook for the token by lowering available selling supply.

Shiba Inu’s capacity to hold above key short-term support levels, even after sharp retracements, combined with ongoing outflows to private wallets, may create the groundwork for another challenge toward the 200-day moving average if bullish sentiment improves in the sessions ahead.

Should these patterns persist alongside support from the moving averages, Shiba Inu could see another attempt to test significant resistance in the near term.
