Shiba Inu faces growing challenges in sustaining its recent upward momentum as a substantial decrease in exchange outflows has slowed the bullish case for the token. Fresh data reveal that SHIB’s seven-day moving average of mean exchange outflows has dropped sharply, with levels declining between 42% and 48% depending on the monitoring period.

Exchange outflows lose momentum

Exchange outflows, which track tokens moving from centralized exchanges to private wallets, often signal long-term holding intentions among investors. Historically, strong outflows support the view that holders are removing assets from exchanges, reducing available market supply. However, the recent significant drop in SHIB outflows suggests a loss of this momentum.

A decrease in exchange outflows does not necessarily mean investors are moving to sell their tokens. Instead, it shows that the potential for supply reduction through withdrawals has lost its pace, potentially increasing the risk of supply returning to the market.

Conflicting exchange activity metrics

Other exchange metrics present a mixed picture. SHIB’s mean inflow increased by 0.79%, while overall exchange inflow grew by 0.56%. During the same period, total outflows experienced a 0.59% rise. Despite these increases, SHIB’s total exchange netflow remains deeply negative at approximately -62.5 billion SHIB. This means that although withdrawal intensity has dropped, the net movement still favors outflows over inflows.

Despite a decrease in withdrawal intensity, SHIB’s overall netflow remains strongly in negative territory, suggesting ongoing preference for holding assets off-exchange rather than immediate market action.

Shiba Inu faces critical resistance

Recently, SHIB surged from around $0.0000042 and now trades near $0.00000535. During this rebound, the token briefly reached above $0.0000060 before sellers weighed in, leading to a pullback. A key technical resistance now sits at the long-term moving average of $0.00000573, which has proven difficult for the token to hold above.

On the positive side, SHIB remains above its shorter moving averages, currently clustered at $0.00000466 and $0.00000496. The Relative Strength Index (RSI), which had previously indicated an overbought condition during the initial rally, has cooled to about 60, pointing to reduced short-term overheating. The ongoing battle at major resistance levels increases the importance of SHIB’s price action in the coming sessions.

If SHIB manages a decisive move above the $0.00000573 mark, attention could quickly return to the $0.0000060–$0.0000063 range, strengthening the recovery outlook.

However, losing ground in the $0.0000049–$0.0000050 region could signal the rally’s failure and put SHIB at risk of retesting its lower support zone.
