A recent Motley Fool analysis favours Solana (@solana) $SOL over XRP Ledger (@XRP) $XRP on several network measures, pointing to higher transaction counts and a much larger stablecoin base on Solana.
Solana leads on transactions and stablecoins
According to Crypto Briefing's summary of the analysis, Solana processed 3.18 billion non-vote transactions in September 2026. Non-vote transactions exclude the validator consensus messages that make up a large share of activity on the network. By comparison, the XRP Ledger handled 222.4 million transactions in the second quarter of 2026. The two figures cover different periods, so they are not a like-for-like comparison.
Stablecoins show a similar gap. The same summary puts Solana's stablecoin supply at between $17.3 billion and $17.5 billion, alongside 888,000 daily active addresses. The XRP Ledger held $1.11 billion in stablecoins. Crypto Briefing noted that activity on the XRP Ledger was dominated by concentrated automated transactions.
A separate Motley Fool article said stablecoin supply on Solana hit a record $17.3 billion in September, with daily active stablecoin addresses up 269% from a year earlier.
Latest data shows a narrower Solana lead
More recent figures suggest Solana's stablecoin supply has eased from its peak. TokenPost reported that supply stood at $15.653 billion on Oct. 25, below the record $17.51 billion reached in September. Even so, DefiLlama data cited by CoinCentral shows Solana with about $15.6 billion in stablecoins on Oct. 26, against roughly $1.1 billion on the XRP Ledger.
Network metrics are only one input for investors. XRP still has the larger market capitalization of the two tokens, at about $81.68 billion versus $60.59 billion for SOL on Oct. 24, according to TokenPost. CoinCentral also cautioned that DefiLlama figures do not capture all enterprise payment activity on the XRP Ledger.
The Motley Fool discloses that it has positions in and recommends Solana and XRP. Nothing here is investment advice.
