Solana's growing presence in the poker world has produced its first winner. On Tuesday, August 4, a lineup of well-known crypto creators played a Solana tournament at the World Series of Poker, the WSOP: Solana Showdown, held in Las Vegas.
The crypto personality known as Rasmr came out on top, taking the event's bracelet.

The field featured prominent crypto names including Ansem, Banks, WendyO, AshleyDCan, Solomon, Bangerz, Gabriel Haines, and MinhxDynasty, who played on the same Final Table stage the WSOP uses for its championship events.
Before play began, 2006 WSOP world champion Jamie Gold led a private training session for the group. Solana says the Showdown champion earns an automatic seat at WSOP Paradise, the series' December event in The Bahamas.

The Showdown builds on a deeper tie-up announced earlier this year. In June, the World Series of Poker, the sport's longest-running and most prestigious series, partnered with the Solana Foundation, in a first-of-its-kind collaboration.
For the first time in WSOP history, players could pay tournament buy-ins directly with crypto on Solana, with zero processing fees, using payment provider MoonPay. Buy-ins through MoonPay and Solana have since topped $20 million, according to the organizers.
Solana is a blockchain built for speed and low cost, processing thousands of transactions per second at fees below a fraction of a cent, practical for handling payments at a global tournament.
The Foundation has also framed poker and crypto as natural cousins, pointing to the shared instincts behind both: making decisions with incomplete information, weighing odds, and managing a bankroll. That overlap, along with poker's large global audience, is part of what drew Solana to the game.
As part of the deal, the Solana Foundation is the official presenting sponsor of the 2026 WSOP, with stablecoin payouts for winners set to begin at the December Bahamas event.
