Someone just sent Ripple's David Schwartz an XRP memecoin gift

Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz showed off a box of trading cards tied to FUZZY, an XRP Ledger meme coin, in a post on X.

Opening them in his kitchen, he said he was "not sure who gifted these" to him, but thanked the project's account anyway.

"Opening fuzzy cards in my kitchen. I'm not sure who gifted these to me. @fuzzy_xrp? But thank you!" he wrote in the post.

FUZZY's sharp rally

FUZZY, listed as Fuzzybear, trades on the XRP Ledger and takes its name from one of the network's earliest wallets.

As per the XRPscan data, the token has more than doubled in a week, with the steepest gain on Oct 20, two days before Schwartz's post. So the rally was not triggered by the unboxing.

The cards belong to Fuzzycards, a trading card game linked to the project, where each card NFT can be redeemed for a physical pack of five.

Its XRP pair is now the third-largest AMM pool on the ledger, with about $992,000 in liquidity.

Neutrality under scrutiny

Schwartz has been cautious about the token. Earlier this year he opened a trust line for FUZZY, which he called routine, and days later said treating memecoins as investments felt distasteful to him. He shared this on X.

In May, his switch to a FUZZY profile picture drew criticism. His words on XRP itself carry weight too.

In September, he said XRP could one day overtake Bitcoin by market cap, though only by growing faster, not by waiting for Bitcoin to fall.

It was observed that the gap was steep then: Bitcoin was about 18 times larger, and XRP would need to trade near $24.60 to match it.

No wonder holders read meaning into small gestures. The latest post said nothing on FUZZY's price or his view of memecoins.
