Strategy Adds 1,550 Bitcoin in Latest Accumulation Move
@Strategy has acquired 1,550 $BTC for approximately $101 million, bringing its total Bitcoin treasury to 845,256 coins, according to an announcement from Executive Chairman Michael Saylor on June 8, 2026. The purchase was made between June 1 and June 7, 2026, at an average price of $65,332 per coin, inclusive of fees and expenses, as disclosed in a Form 8-K filing with the SEC.
The company raised $181 million through common stock sales, using the proceeds to fund the Bitcoin purchase and increase its cash reserves to $1 billion. The milestone USD balance marks a notable expansion of Strategy's liquidity position alongside its ongoing accumulation programme.
The purchase comes after Bitcoin fell around 15% last week, briefly trading below $60,000 before rebounding above $62,000. The decline followed, at least partially, after Saylor sold 32 Bitcoin on June 1.The latest acquisition marks the first buy since the company's Bitcoin sale and expands Strategy's reserve while also adding to its balance sheet liquidity.
Context: A Treasury Built Over Years of Consistent Buying
Strategy, listed on Nasdaq under tickers MSTR, STRK, STRC, STRD, and STRF, reported 818,334 Bitcoin holdings as of May 3, 2026, representing 22% growth year to date at that point. The fresh purchase pushes the total to 845,256 $BTC, cementing its position as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin in the world.
Strategy has funded its accumulation through convertible notes, equity issuances at premium valuations, and a reinforcing flywheel in which Bitcoin appreciation raises the company's stock price, enabling further capital raises to buy more Bitcoin.
