Strategy (@Strategy) chair Michael Saylor (@saylor) has hinted at another Bitcoin ($BTC) purchase, posting a short message on X that investors have learned to watch closely. He wrote: "There's always room for more orange." The post did not confirm a purchase, a size or a timing.
What the latest filing shows
The most recent disclosed buy was small. Strategy (MSTR) acquired 334 BTC for about $28.7 million between Sept. 28 and Oct. 4, according to an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company now holds 848,000 BTC, its highest-ever total, worth around $73 billion, according to Saylor. That is equivalent to more than 4% of bitcoin's 21 million supply cap.
The purchase was funded through share sales and cash. Strategy used proceeds from at-the-market sales of its Class A common stock, MSTR, and its USD Cash reserve.
Over the same period, the company put more money into its preferred stock than into Bitcoin. Strategy repurchased about 1.77 million shares of its preferred stock STRC for $176.3 million, more than six times what it spent on bitcoin. Crypto outlet CryptoSlate described it as the firm's smallest positive Bitcoin purchase of 2026.
When to expect confirmation
Saylor's Sunday posts have often come ahead of formal disclosures. Based on past patterns, Strategy typically discloses its Bitcoin position changes the day after such posts. This time, the calendar may delay that. With U.S. federal agencies closed on Oct. 12 for Columbus Day, an SEC filing is unlikely to be released before Oct. 13.
Investors should treat the post as a signal rather than a confirmation. The post did not confirm whether Strategy bought Bitcoin, or disclose the amount or timing of any purchase. The next 8-K filing will show whether any new coins were added and how the purchase was funded.
The scale of recent buying is also in focus. Independent analyst Shanaka Anslem Perera found that Strategy ended September with 1,666 more Bitcoin than at the end of June, and that 9.5% of third-quarter stock proceeds went directly to Bitcoin.
