@SuiNetwork's native stablecoin, $USDsui, has reached a record supply of more than $80 million, only months after its launch in March 2026. According to CryptoNews, the asset's supply has grown 20.5% over the last three months. Credit goes to the @Mysten_Labs team, which develops the Sui protocol.
How $USDsui got here
The Sui Foundation announced the $USDsui mainnet launch on March 4. The launch ran through Bridge, the stablecoin infrastructure company owned by Stripe.Bridge's reserve page describes USDsui as a U.S. dollar stablecoin built for the Sui network and issued through Bridge's Open Issuance platform.
The stablecoin was first unveiled in November 2025. At the time, Sui said any revenues that flow to the network would be reinvested into the ecosystem through growth and investment programs. That design differs from stablecoins where the issuer keeps the reserve income. Income generated from its reserves is directed towards repurchasing SUI tokens and incentivizing DeFi liquidity in the Sui ecosystem. CoinGecko's Sui page also lists a news item on the Sui Foundation repurchasing SUI tokens using USDsui yield.
Zero-fee transfers may also help adoption. In May, Mysten Labs rolled out a protocol-level change that dropped stablecoin transfer fees to zero and removed the need to hold native SUI to move funds. The feature covers seven stablecoins, including USDsui.
Context: a smaller slice of Sui's stablecoin market
The $80 million milestone is a record for $USDsui itself, but it is still small against Sui's wider stablecoin market. Sui's total stablecoin balances peaked at $1.6 billion in May 2025 before falling to roughly $492 million by the end of the first half of 2026.DefiLlama currently shows total Sui stablecoin market cap at about $488.56 million, with USDsui listed at around $80 million.
Supply figures also vary by source and date. Bridge's reserve page showed 74,111,162 USDsui in circulation, fully backed by reserve assets, while Mysten Labs co-founder Adeniyi Abiodun has cited roughly $75 million. Readers should check live data before relying on any single number.
Overall, the growth shows early traction for a stablecoin that Sui controls, rather than relying only on third-party issuers. Whether $USDsui can keep expanding will depend on how much of Sui's stablecoin activity moves to it from existing assets.
