S&P 500 futures declined Wednesday morning as market participants scaled back positions in artificial intelligence stocks in anticipation of critical earnings announcements from Tesla and Alphabet scheduled for after market close.
While the general market showed weakness, Super Micro Computer emerged as the day’s most significant performer.
Super Micro Computer surged over 15% during premarket hours following the company’s announcement that it now expects Q4 gross margins between 15% and 17%, a dramatic increase from its previous guidance range of 8.2% to 8.4%.

Management attributed the margin expansion to advantageous shifts in both customer composition and product portfolio.
While preliminary fourth-quarter revenue of $11B to $12.5B landed toward the lower boundary of prior expectations, the substantially enhanced margin forecast captured investor enthusiasm.
Additionally, Super Micro disclosed an unprecedented backlog, with incoming orders surpassing $60B throughout the quarter.
The positive ripple effects extended to Dell Technologies, which climbed 4.3%, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, which advanced 3.2% in premarket activity, both benefiting from Super Micro’s optimistic business outlook.
However, the AI sector showed divergent performance. Intel declined 3.3%, Micron slipped 2.9%, and Sandisk retreated 2.8% as capital shifted away from these semiconductor names.
Oklo climbed 4% and X-Energy increased 3% following confirmation that both nuclear technology companies have been selected for a $200M Trump administration program designed to accelerate nuclear reactor deployment specifically for powering AI infrastructure.
Microsoft and Nvidia are also participating in this initiative, which seeks to streamline the design and regulatory approval processes for next-generation nuclear reactors.
Rocket Lab shares appreciated 4% after announcing it had been awarded a $266M contract from the U.S. government to conduct 12 suborbital launch missions, with operations extending through December 2028.
The agreement incorporates approximately $112M designated for research and development activities and falls under the oversight of the U.S. Space Systems Command.
Pegasystems plummeted 15% after reporting second-quarter results that fell short of analyst expectations for both earnings and revenue. Management cited that uncertainty surrounding artificial intelligence implementation has prompted enterprise clients to postpone major software purchasing decisions, resulting in slower contract value expansion during the first half of 2026.
Dyne Therapeutics declined 10% following the announcement of an expanded equity offering priced at $20.50 per share, which successfully raised $375M but sparked investor concerns regarding shareholder dilution.
Bitcoin edged down 0.58% to $66,033. Gold futures advanced 1.21% while Brent crude oil surged 3.90%.
Investor focus now turns to the highly anticipated after-hours earnings releases from Tesla and Alphabet, which are widely expected to influence near-term sentiment across the technology sector.
