Shares of Target (TGT) moved higher to the $164 range on Wednesday morning after the retail giant announced September 10 as the official debut date for its Target Beauty Studio initiative. This uptick followed a nearly 4% decline to $163.47 the previous day stemming from Halloween costume-related backlash.

The Target Beauty Studio concept will make its appearance in more than 600 physical stores nationwide while simultaneously launching on the company’s e-commerce platform. This dedicated beauty destination will house upwards of 1,600 products spanning 90 prestige, emerging, and international beauty brands. Notably, over two-thirds of these labels will mark their first appearance at Target.
The retailer initially unveiled plans for this beauty studio concept back in March. The initiative aims to carve out an exclusive section for premium beauty offerings within Target’s existing beauty departments, tapping into a prestige beauty market projected to reach $36 billion by 2025.
The skincare selection will feature brands like Clearstem, First Aid Beauty, and Sunday Riley. Haircare options will include Bondi Boost, Briogeo, and Nioxin. Korean beauty enthusiasts can explore Amuse, Kaja, and Rom&nd, while shoppers will also discover Mexican brand SARELLY and French nail specialist Manucurist.
Target plans to staff these sections with specially trained Beauty Advisors wearing distinctive uniforms. Stores will include product sampling stations and a central display table for interactive brand showcases, kicking off with Lake & Skye fragrance collections.
The beauty space will feature changing displays highlighting “Editors’ Picks,” “Most Loved,” and “Standouts of the Season.” Target Circle loyalty program members will gain access to special promotions connected to the beauty studio.
An in-store launch celebration is scheduled for September 26 from noon to 4 p.m. local time. The first 100 customers at participating stores will receive an exclusive Target Circle bonus valid for purchases within the new beauty department.
Replacing the Ulta Partnership
This beauty studio rollout follows closely on the heels of Target and Ulta Beauty dissolving their five-year retail partnership earlier this month. Ulta-branded shop-in-shop sections have been completely removed from Target locations and the retailer’s website.
The partnership dissolution was initially disclosed by both parties in August of the previous year. Industry analysts interpret the Target Beauty Studio as a strategic replacement for the Ulta collaboration, with several experts suggesting the retailer may achieve better long-term results by maintaining full control over its beauty operations.
Revenue Growth Continues
Target posted year-over-year revenue growth of 5.3% during its second quarter of fiscal 2026, bringing in $26.54 billion. The retailer has set a full-year sales growth objective of 5%.
Company executives positioned the beauty studio launch as a component of a larger strategic plan to drive sustained growth through more differentiated product assortments and enhanced customer experiences at its stores.
According to Wall Street analysts, TGT carries a Moderate Buy consensus rating. This rating comprises 12 Buy recommendations, 14 Hold ratings, and 2 Sell ratings issued within the last three months. Analysts have established an average price target of $165.06, representing roughly 2% upside from current trading levels.
