Tesla shares surged more than 4% Monday, hitting their highest level in more than a week as investors piled back into the electric-vehicle maker ahead of a closely watched Cybercab event and amid renewed attention on Elon Musk’s autonomous-driving ambitions.

TSLA traded around $364.50 in afternoon trading, up roughly 4.5%, after reaching an intraday high near $365.74. The move put the stock close to its Aug. 21 high of $366.50 and represented a sharp rebound from Friday’s $348.75 close.

The rally stood out because the broader market was moving in the opposite direction. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq fell Monday as renewed U.S.-Iran fighting pushed oil prices higher and strengthened expectations that the Federal Reserve could keep monetary policy tighter.

That divergence makes Tesla’s move more notable than a routine technology-sector bounce.

Cybercab and FSD Put Autonomy Back at Center Stage

There was no single company announcement Monday that fully explained the 4.5% jump. Instead, investors appeared to be repricing several autonomy-related developments ahead of Tesla’s next major event.

Musk said Tesla’s Full Self-Driving software will soon gain the ability to avoid potholes, another incremental improvement to a system that remains central to the company’s Robotaxi strategy. Barron’s pointed to renewed interest in Tesla’s self-driving technology as shares climbed during the session.

The larger catalyst is only days away.

Tesla is preparing a Cybercab launch event in Austin on Sept. 3, giving investors another opportunity to assess how quickly the company can turn its autonomy narrative into a scalable commercial business. Tesla has described Cybercab as its purpose-built autonomous vehicle without conventional driving controls.

Importantly, the Sept. 3 event should not yet be treated as confirmation that ordinary customers will immediately be able to hail paid Cybercab rides. Tesla’s current Robotaxi page still says its operating services use Model Y vehicles, while Cybercab rides are coming in the future.

Coinpaper previously examined how Tesla’s valuation increasingly depends on robotaxi and robotics rather than its traditional vehicle business alone.

$366 Becomes the Immediate TSLA Level to Watch

Monday’s rally also puts Tesla back at an important technical area.

The stock reached $366.50 on Aug. 21 before retreating. Monday’s intraday high near $365.74 brings TSLA almost directly back to that level, making roughly $366 the nearest visible resistance zone.

A sustained move above that area would mark a breakout above the recent one-week range. Below the market, the $348-$350 region has repeatedly acted as a trading zone during the past week and is the clearest near-term support area based on recent price action.

The stock has already staged a substantial August recovery. Tesla ended July at $311.21 and closed Friday at $348.75, while Monday’s move pushed shares above $364.

That rebound has happened even though Tesla’s second-quarter earnings initially disappointed investors. Coinpaper covered the Q2 earnings selloff after weaker-than-expected earnings overshadowed stronger revenue and vehicle deliveries.

The market is now looking beyond that quarter and back toward Musk’s longer-term AI thesis.

For TSLA traders, the next few sessions therefore carry unusual significance: $366 is the immediate technical test, while Thursday’s Cybercab event offers the next fundamental test of whether Tesla’s increasingly autonomy-driven valuation narrative can keep supporting the stock’s August rebound.
