Meanwhile, net interest income rose 15% to $1.42 billion on higher reinvestment yields and balance sheet expansion.
Net income available to common shareholders increased 20% to $1.61 billion from $1.34 billion. Diluted earnings per share climbed to $2.34 from $1.88, extending the bank’s annual profit growth. However, earnings per share declined 4% from the second quarter, when BNY reported $2.45.

Asset Servicing and Issuer Services Support BNY Revenue Growth

BNY ended September with $63.4 trillion in assets under custody or administration, up 10% annually. Higher market valuations and fresh client business helped increase custody assets across its operating platforms.

The bank returned $1.4 billion to common shareholders during the quarter through dividends and share repurchases. Those distributions included $436 million in dividends and $937 million in share buybacks. Its year-to-date payout ratio reached 86%, reflecting the scale of ongoing capital distributions.
