XRP’s daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) has reached a level that previously coincided with the token’s July 2025 all-time high, even though its current price remains significantly lower.

Crypto analyst ChartNerd says the development could indicate that XRP is beginning to lose momentum, particularly after a rejection at the 50-week exponential moving average (EMA).

XRP RSI Reaches Level Seen at July 2025 High

ChartNerd highlighted the technical setup in a post on X, pointing to XRP’s daily RSI reaching 88. According to the analyst, that reading identifies the RSI level recorded when XRP reached its July 2025 all-time high of $3.65.

The comparison is notable because XRP is currently trading around $1.48 in the chart shared by ChartNerd. This places the cryptocurrency well below the July 2025 peak despite the RSI reaching a similar level.

ChartNerd described the development as a “bearish divergence” and said the combination of the elevated RSI and rejection from the 50-week EMA could indicate that XRP is showing early signs of weakness.

The attached chart shows XRP declining through much of 2026 after recording a series of lower highs. A red descending trendline connects several of those highs, while XRP’s latest move has brought the price back toward that resistance area. The lower indicator shows the daily RSI rising sharply to around 80.75, approaching the previously marked all-time-high RSI level.

Analyst Warns Traders to Watch the RSI

ChartNerd also addressed the change in market conditions around XRP’s RSI. The analyst noted that traders had paid significant attention to the indicator when it was oversold only a few weeks earlier. ChartNerd now questioned whether the same traders would pay attention as the RSI entered overbought territory and formed what the analyst described as a bearish divergence.

The warning centers on momentum rather than a specific XRP price target. ChartNerd did not state that the current RSI level guarantees an immediate decline. Instead, the analyst presented the indicator, the lower-high structure, and the 50-week EMA rejection as early technical signals that XRP could be losing strength.

Another X User Challenges the RSI Comparison

An X user, AdaptiveRSI, challenged the basis of comparing the current daily RSI reading with the RSI recorded at XRP’s July 2025 high.

AdaptiveRSI explained that RSI(14) measures recent price momentum relative to its Wilder EMA(14), meaning that the similar readings mainly indicate that XRP’s recent price move was comparable in relative strength to the move that preceded the $3.65 peak.

The user said that comparing market structure across 13 months would require a longer-term RSI rather than the standard 14-period reading. AdaptiveRSI suggested indicators such as RSI(200) or an even longer lookback period for that purpose.

AdaptiveRSI also highlighted a TradingView RSI tool that plots RSI as candles and adjusts overbought, oversold, support, and resistance levels according to the selected lookback period. The exchange adds a different interpretation of ChartNerd’s technical observation, emphasizing that a similar short-term RSI reading does not by itself establish that XRP is approaching another major price peak.
