Trading volume of tokenized stocks on @Base has officially crossed $300 million through @Uniswap, marking a new record for on-chain equity activity on the network. The milestone reflects growing appetite among both retail and institutional users for blockchain-native exposure to conventional stock market assets.

A Rapidly Expanding Market

The $300 million figure on Base is part of a much larger wave reshaping how equities are traded. Uniswap has registered a significant increase in trading volume for tokenized stocks, with activity surging by $325.2 million over a single week.Version 4 of the protocol contributed $170 million to this figure, while version 3 added $155.2 million, confirming that both generations remain central to the growing ecosystem of decentralized equities.

The scale of growth becomes clearer when viewed over a longer time horizon. Tokenized stocks have grown from 0.1 percent of total DEX spot trading volume one year ago to over 4 percent year-to-date.Quarter-to-date trading in tokenized stocks has already reached $7.8 billion for the third quarter of 2026, reflecting the sector's deepening liquidity and on-demand access outside of traditional exchange hours.

Retail and Institutional Demand Converging

The user base driving these volumes is notably broad. Retail investors are adopting tokenized stocks faster than institutional products, though only about $2.2 billion in tokenized equities exists against a global stock market worth more than $100 trillion.Average wallet balances for institutional products such as BlackRock's BUIDL fund exceed $25 million, while retail participants typically trade in much smaller increments, reflecting a market that is drawing in participants at every level.

On the infrastructure side, @Uniswap has built features specifically designed to support regulated assets at scale. Uniswap's v4 architecture introduced permissioned pools and customizable operational modes, allowing issuers and liquidity providers to establish access rules for verified participants only, directly supporting regulated assets.Traders can access tokenized versions of widely held names including NVIDIA, Tesla, and Apple, as well as major ETFs, all without being constrained by traditional market hours.

Regulatory clarity has also played a role in unlocking institutional participation. On September 17, 2026, the SEC introduced a five-year Innovation Exemption, letting qualifying Tokenized Securities Venues trade tokenized stocks on-chain through permissioned AMMs without registering as an exchange. That move is widely seen as a signal that regulators are willing to accommodate properly structured on-chain equity markets.

With @Base emerging as a key venue for on-chain stock trading and @Uniswap capturing an outsized share of pool activity, the $300 million threshold marks a meaningful moment for both platforms and for the broader tokenized equities space.
