Crypto analyst ChartNerd has pushed back against claims that XRP could reach $100 by the end of 2035. He said investors should approach long-term price targets with caution.
While remaining optimistic about XRP’s future, the analyst said such projections require careful consideration and warned against accepting extremely high targets without examining the mathematics and timing behind them.
ChartNerd Challenges $100 XRP Target
ChartNerd made the comments on X while sharing a video from CryptoVerdict in which several participants were asked whether XRP could reach $100 by 2035.
During the discussion, CryptoVerdict noted that reaching $100 from around $1 is roughly a 100-fold increase. Jake Claver, featured in the discussion, responded that he strongly agreed XRP could reach that level this year.
ChartNerd disagreed with that assessment. In his post, he stated directly that XRP would not reach $100 by the end of 2035 and urged market participants to stop accepting what he described as unrealistic projections.
The analyst also emphasized that any XRP price target should be treated carefully. According to the analyst, long-term forecasts are highly uncertain estimates regardless of who predicted them. He specifically included his own previous $27 XRP projection in that assessment, acknowledging that he believes even that target would be “really difficult” to achieve.
Analyst Acknowledges His Own $27 Projection
ChartNerd’s comments did not focus exclusively on other analysts. He applied the same level of skepticism to his own forecast, noting that his $27 projection remains difficult to achieve.
Rather than presenting his estimate as a certainty, ChartNerd said investors should focus on current market conditions instead of trading based on the market they hope will develop.
“Trade the market we have, not the market we want,” he wrote.
ChartNerd Explains His Reasoning
An X user identified as KNDl137 subsequently asked ChartNerd whether his position was based primarily on technical analysis and previous market cycles. ChartNerd responded that his view was roughly “50/50,” with one half based on technical analysis and historical market cycles and the other half based on what he described as common sense.
ChartNerd also stressed that he remains extremely optimistic about XRP’s future. However, he argued that the cryptocurrency community has repeatedly seen ambitious $100 to $1,000 XRP targets presented over the years without those forecasts producing the expected outcomes.
He acknowledged that past performance does not guarantee future results, but said the mathematics and timing behind some of these projections do not make sense to him. He added that his criticism was not intended as an attack on the analysts making the predictions.
Instead, ChartNerd said he was comfortable challenging such claims when he believes they lack sufficient justification.
