Crypto commentator Digital Asset Investor has issued a warning to the XRP community after uncovering what he described as a phishing scam designed to steal users’ digital assets.
In a YouTube video shared alongside his tweet, Digital Asset Investor focused on what he said was a fake Ripple announcement that falsely claimed to introduce XRP holder tiers. According to him, the post was not connected to Ripple and was created to deceive users into clicking a malicious link.
He explained that the announcement appeared convincing because it was presented in a way that made it seem to come directly from Ripple. However, he emphasized that the entire post was fabricated.
“This is all fake, folks. You will lose XRP,” he said while warning viewers that the attached link was a phishing link intended to compromise users’ wallets or credentials.
The commentator urged XRP holders to avoid interacting with similar posts and to verify announcements through Ripple’s official communication channels before clicking any links or connecting their wallets.
Warning Extends Beyond XRP Scam
In the same video, Digital Asset Investor also highlighted another reported security incident involving cryptocurrency wallets. He referenced an alert claiming that 594 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $38 million, had been drained from around 500 Coldcard hardware wallets within 25 minutes.
According to the information he cited, the reported exploit stemmed from a vulnerability linked to firmware version 4.0.0, released in March 2021. The alleged flaw reportedly affected the way private keys were generated, allowing attackers to compromise affected wallets.
While discussing the report, Digital Asset Investor used the incident to reinforce his own approach to securing digital assets.
Personal Security Approach
The commentator revealed that he no longer keeps hardware wallets at home, explaining that he has deliberately structured his crypto storage so that accessing his holdings is a slow process rather than an immediate one.
He stated that even if he decided to move his cryptocurrency, it would take him several hours, or potentially two to three days, depending on the circumstances. According to him, this delay is intentional because it reduces the likelihood that someone could quickly gain access to his assets.
“I don’t want someone to be able to have easy access to my crypto,” he said.
Digital Asset Investor maintained that making cryptocurrency difficult to access provides an additional layer of protection against theft.
His message throughout the video remained consistent: crypto holders should treat unexpected announcements with caution, avoid clicking unverified links, and prioritize security practices that reduce the risk of losing their digital assets to phishing attacks or other forms of compromise.
