Trump Digital Gold (GOLD), a Solana memecoin promoted through the X account of Trump-branded collectible seller RealTrumpCoins, surged past a $60 million market capitalization Friday before collapsing more than 95% as promotional posts disappeared and wallets linked to the launch sold their holdings.
The token reached the $60 million level within roughly two hours before initially falling toward $10 million. Its market capitalization later plunged below $2 million during a one-minute selloff and was tracked as low as $600,000 shortly afterward.
The launch showed heavy supply concentration from the outset. Fifteen newly created wallets spent about $18,657 to acquire 224.5 million GOLD, while the developer controlled another 600 million tokens, leaving those addresses with roughly 82.45% of supply.
The 15 wallets later sold their entire 224.5 million GOLD position for 3,178 SOL worth about $330,000, producing an estimated $312,000 profit and roughly a 17x return. The sales intensified accusations that the launch was a coordinated rug pull, although wallet attribution beyond the identified cluster remains subject to onchain analysis.
The activity came days after Trump-linked wallets extracted 3.39 million USDC from Official Trump liquidity positions during a sharp TRUMP rally. That activity involved the established Official Trump token and was separate from Friday’s GOLD launch.
RealTrumpCoins’ X account initially promoted GOLD before the token collapsed. Those promotional posts were subsequently deleted, including a follow-up message telling users to remain on standby.
Later messages attributed to the compromised account claimed the GOLD operation generated more than $8.2 million and included hostile statements involving President Donald Trump’s family. The account was subsequently described as hacked, while the identity of the operator behind the token launch has not been independently established.
The sequence resembles other cases in which a hacked social account was used to promote a short-lived Solana token before insiders or attackers exited into incoming liquidity.
Eric Trump had also rejected rumors of another Trump-family cryptocurrency on August 22, writing that “no one is launching any kind of coin” and calling claims otherwise fraudulent. His warning came six days before GOLD appeared.
RealTrumpCoins has an established licensing relationship around physical Trump collectibles. President Trump promoted the company’s silver medallions in 2024, while the current website describes its precious-metal products as officially licensed and personally approved by Trump. Its legal disclaimer says the products are not manufactured, distributed or sold by The Trump Organization itself.
At publication time, the RealTrumpCoins website still displayed Trump Digital Gold and the Solana contract EMWtbpHaNqMbjUMZguuazhuZUVLWG3z4C5oZnGJPSqxS, even after the related X posts had disappeared. The page advertised GOLD as an onchain project and linked directly to token trading, while market trackers continued recording extreme price differences across its newly created liquidity pools.
