Trump Media and Technology Group ($DJT) has walked away from its original plan to build a native prediction market directly into Truth Social, opting instead for a simpler marketing arrangement with Crypto(.)com.

From Integration to Marketing Deal

The two companies had announced the prediction market partnership last October, branding the planned product "Truth Predict." That effort was meant to let Truth Social and Truth+ users trade event contracts, including sports derivatives, directly inside the app, with beta testing expected to lead into a national rollout.

On August 7, 2026, Crypto(.)com and Trump Media jointly announced changes to their previously announced prediction market integration. Rather than develop a direct prediction market integration on Truth Social, the companies will pivot to a marketing agreement under which Crypto(.)com's prediction market experiences will be marketed to the Truth Social user base.

The arrangement positions Truth Social as a marketing channel rather than an execution venue for prediction markets, potentially reducing technical and regulatory complexity while still giving users exposure to Crypto(.)com's prediction market products.

A Crowded Market and a Tighter Focus

The prediction market business is already crowded with established companies, Interim CEO Kevin McGurn says, making the back-end infrastructure a less attractive use of Trump Media's resources. He sees more opportunity for the company as a distribution and data partner than as an operator of the underlying markets.

"Our strategic focus is to drive revenue across Truth Social, continue to build our global media business, and close the merger with TAE," McGurn said. "This marketing agreement better aligns with our priorities and will put Crypto(.)com's prediction market experiences in front of a highly engaged digital audience."

Trump Media has also canceled an agreement to purchase billions of dollars' worth of Cronos (CRO) tokens. When Trump Media announced plans to buy the CRO token in August last year, the price skyrocketed to $0.33. It has since fallen to $0.047, a decline of over 85%.

While the decision all but ends the original Crypto(.)com deal, it opens the possibility of Trump Media striking partnerships with other platforms. Kalshi and Polymarket have already formed several media partnerships and also have ties to the Trump family. Shortly after the election, Donald Trump Jr. became a strategic advisor to Kalshi and has since taken up the same role at Polymarket, investing through his firm 1789 Capital.

From a prediction market standpoint, Crypto(.)com can easily survive the loss of the Truth Social deal. The cryptocurrency exchange has several more visible, likely more lucrative prediction market partnerships in place, including deals with Fanatics and FanDuel, among others.
