Federal prosecutors in Manhattan have filed a civil forfeiture complaint against roughly $61 million in cryptocurrency, alleging it represents proceeds from black-market sales of sanctioned Iranian crude oil intended to finance the Iranian government and its military, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The complaint alleges that two Chinese companies, Blessed Trust and Hexa Whale, used trading accounts at the UAE-based exchange Binance to launder the money. Binance is not accused of wrongdoing in the complaint.
