Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) listed in the United States saw a return to net inflows on Monday, attracting $110 million in fresh capital, according to data released by SoSoValue. This development followed two consecutive sessions of significant redemptions that totaled $774 million.
Volatility and Inflows Amid Negative Monthly Trend
Despite the rebound in inflows, the month of October maintained a negative trend for spot Bitcoin ETFs, with overall net outflows reaching $202 million through Monday’s trading session. The recent net inflows suggest a possible shift in investor sentiment, but market conditions remain uncertain.
Bitcoin was priced at $79,595 at the time of reporting, reflecting a decrease of 2.6% over the past week, based on CoinGecko data. This downward movement added to broader concerns about persistent volatility and inconsistent demand across institutional and retail investor segments.
Shifts in Investor Sentiment and Behavior
The Crypto Fear & Greed Index, widely watched as a gauge of market sentiment, dropped from 50 to 48 on Monday. The reading placed investor sentiment in a “Neutral” state, though it signaled a modest increase in caution among market participants after weeks of heightened optimism.
According to data provided by CryptoQuant, notable changes have emerged in investor behavior on major trading platforms. Retail investors notably increased their Bitcoin deposits to crypto exchange Binance, the world’s largest digital asset trading venue by volume, while large holders reduced their contributions.
An analyst operating under the name Darkfost reported that retail Bitcoin deposits to Binance nearly doubled to $10.8 billion over the past 30 days. In comparison, deposits from large holders decreased to $3.8 billion during the same period. Darkfost stated that this trend could reflect smaller investors seeking to capitalize on recent price rebounds.
Smaller investors reportedly used the recent recovery in Bitcoin’s price to realize profits, as indicated by their increased deposits on Binance, while larger holders reduced their activity.
