VanEck BNB ETF Staking: What Changed in the New Investment Objective?
Will staking rewards actually reach VBNB shareholders?
The VanEck BNB ETF just added staking to its goal. The October 1 prospectus says it will track BNB's price plus rewards from the rewards program part of its BNB.

But VanEck's own fund page still shows a blank staking yield. That gap is the real story.
VanEck BNB ETF Adds Staking to Its Investment Objective
The prospectus rewrites the fund's goal. It now reflects BNB's price plus staking rewards, minus ETF expenses. Spot BNB remains the core holding.
There's a condition. VanEck will stake only if it judges the move free of undue legal or regulatory risk. That includes protecting the fund's grantor trust status, a tax setup that passes income straight to shareholders.
Why does it matter? Until now, VBNB shareholders only gained or lost with BNB's price. BNB ETF the rewards program could add extra BNB on top, but only after the fund actually starts.
The fund started in May 2026 without the reward process. The filing says VanEck expects to begin shortly after October 1 but gives no exact date.
VanEck BNB ETF Staking: How Much BNB Gets Locked?
Under normal conditions, VanEck plans to stake all the fund's BNB except a reserve. That reserve covers expected redemptions, when investors cash out shares.
So don't expect 100% staked. The share can shift with redemptions and market conditions.
On October 2, the fund held 3,494.433 BNB, with net assets near $2.67 million.
Three firms handle the VBNB rewards process:
BitGo: second custodian and expected first the rewards program provider. It takes 4% of rewards.
Figment: named validator in the September 25 custody amendment.
Anchorage Digital: first custodian holding the fund's BNB.
That 4% is a cut of rewards, not of fund assets. The fund runs no validators of its own.

VanEck's page shows blanks for percent staked, gross yield and net yield. So no official VanEck BNB ETF the rewards program yield exists yet. The 18.85% gain since inception comes from BNB's price moves, as the rewards program hasn't been confirmed live.

Rewards arrive as BNB, minus the 4% fee, and show up in the daily net asset value. You don't need to claim anything.
VanEck also intends quarterly cash payouts of net rewards, funded by selling BNB. Those sales are taxable, and amounts aren't guaranteed.
VanEck says the rewards program yields may change often and can even be zero or negative. Rewards depend on network participation and validator performance.
VanEck BNB ETF Unbonding Period and What It Means
Unstaking isn't instant. BNB Smart Chain imposes a seven-day unbonding period, a waiting time before undelegated BNB frees up. During it, BNB earns nothing and can't be moved or sold.
For the VanEck BNB ETF, VanEck expects seven to eight days from unstaking order to usable BNB. Daily reward cycles add the extra day.
That delay could slow redemptions if many holders exit at once, the filing warns.
Slashing, a penalty for validator misconduct, is another risk. Today, penalties hit a validator's own stake, not delegators like the fund. Governance could change that rule.
Conclusion
The VanEck BNB ETF now has the rewards program in its objective, but no live yield yet. Watch VanEck's page for the staked share and net yield. Remember the 4% fee, the seven-day exit delay and BNB's price swings. The rewards program adds a possible extra return, not a guarantee, so read VanEck's filings before you decide.
