@Visa has partnered with embedded finance firm @Meshpay to let users spend digital assets and stablecoins directly from their wallets across Visa's global merchant network, according to a Mesh press release dated October 19, 2026.

The companies say the system removes the need for a separate crypto debit card, manual conversion into fiat or pre-funding an account. Mesh said the collaboration combines Visa's acceptance network with Mesh's orchestration infrastructure, so consumers can pay in-store and online from balances they already hold in wallet apps.

How the payments work

Per the release, Mesh will enable participating digital wallets and platforms to offer a pay-from-balance experience. A Visa credential is provisioned behind the scenes, so a customer can tap at a standard contactless terminal or check out online without having to sell, transfer or preload funds.

On the merchant side, the release says the shop receives a standard payment, with no new hardware or changes to the existing checkout workflow. Mesh orchestrates how each transaction is funded and converted across supported balances, including crypto, stablecoins and fiat, and acts as program manager, handling user onboarding and KYC, according to the published announcement.

Visa's network spans upwards of 175 million merchant locations across more than 200 countries and territories, with $14.2 trillion in payments volume in fiscal 2025, the release states.

Why it matters and what is still unclear

Mesh argues that existing routes from a stablecoin balance to fiat spending still require the consumer to act first, either by cashing out to a bank account or signing up for a card tied to a single platform. The release cites Crypto.com research putting global crypto owners at 774 million as of June 2026, and American Banker data showing crypto card volumes at roughly $1.5 billion a month by late 2025, which it describes as a small share of overall payments.

Visa already offers stablecoin-linked cards. In March, Visa and Bridge, a Stripe company, said Bridge-enabled stablecoin-linked cards were live in 18 countries, with expansion to more than 100 countries planned by the end of the year.

Details on rollout remain thin. Tech outlet TECHi reported that Mesh says initial availability, devices and participating platforms are yet to be announced, and that the release does not establish a generally available product today. The outlet also flagged payment-dispute terms as an open question, since Mesh's existing crypto payments product advertises zero chargebacks, a feature of crypto-native transfers rather than card transactions.

Mesh says it already has more than 200 enterprises using its network and connects hundreds of wallets, exchanges and platforms, which could offer Visa spending to their users once the service goes live.
