World Liberty Financial (@worldlibertyfi) has set October 19 as the date for its next addition to the WLFI staking rewards pool, giving stakers another milestone to track.
The $WLFI staking pool already holds 54.07 million tokens. The staking dashboard lists 1.17 million $USD1 in available rewards, out of 1.25 million USD1 in all-time rewards. The variable reward rate currently stands at 80.77%.
How the WLFI staking program works
The program opened on October 1. According to Crypto Briefing, World Liberty Financial seeded the scheme with an initial rewards pool of $1.25 million in USD1, its own stablecoin, to be paid out over 180 days.
To qualify, holders must stake unlocked WLFI for at least 180 days and vote directly at least once every 90 days, TradingView News reported. The Defiant noted that there is no fixed payout rate.
That matters for the 80.77% figure. World Liberty's own staking page says the displayed rate is the current annualised rate and can decrease as more WLFI is staked. It also states that rewards are not guaranteed and that today's rate does not represent what a staker will earn over the full period. New stakes are locked for at least 180 days, even if the rate falls.
Context for WLFI and USD1
The program traces back to a governance proposal. CoinMarketCap's AI-generated market summary said the "Governance Engagement Incentive Program" passed on September 28 with 82.1% support, and that WLFI rose 3.1% in the roughly 35 hours after launch.
The rewards are paid in USD1, the stablecoin at the centre of World Liberty's wider strategy. Cointelegraph reported on October 7 that executives outlined plans at Token2049 in Singapore to bring USD1 payments to major online businesses through a partnership with Mesh, with the rollout planned for this quarter.
Because the rate is variable and the reward pool is fixed, the yield will shift as more WLFI is staked and as new rewards are added. Stakers tracking the October 19 date should check the official dashboard for updated figures.
