  • Sam Altman-backed World Money launches across 150+ countries, combining stablecoins, payments, trading, and earning in a self-custodial app.
  • WLD climbed above $0.43 as the launch brought new attention to World’s financial ecosystem and token utility.

Worldcoin (WLD) price climbed on September 18 as the token gained attention following the launch of World Money, a stablecoin-powered new financial app from the World ecosystem. WLD was trading around $0.4274, up over 15% over 24 hours, as per CoinGecko data. The token reached an intraday high over $0.434, after closing around $0.384 on Sep. 17.

The move extends a short-term recovery for WLD. The token has risen from around $0.363 on Sep. 15 to about $0.40, although it remains below its levels earlier in the month, where it was traded near $0.50. Daily trading volume also increased during the latest move, with more than $303.61 million recorded in Sep. 18 trading data.

The price increase comes as Sam Altman’s World begins rolling out World Money across more than 150 countries. The company announced the launch on September 17, describing the product as a self-custodial financial app that brings stablecoins, payments, digital-asset trading, earning and transfers into one platform. Availability and features vary depending on the country.

World Money Adds WLD to Its Financial Services

World Money supports stablecoin balances across eight currencies and allows users to send supported digital assets across borders. The app also includes portfolio tracking, transaction history and price alerts.

WLD is directly included in the platform’s Earn section, where eligible users can deposit Worldcoin and other supported assets into programs powered by Morpho. The Trade section allows users to buy and sell digital assets and selected real-world assets.

The app also connects with Stripe, Kalshi, Morpho and Bridge. In the U.S., Stripe enables users to fund stablecoin balances through Apple Pay, with supported deposits generally arriving within minutes. Bridge provides virtual account infrastructure for eligible users.

World Money also carries over verification and credentials for existing World App and World ID users. The launch therefore gives WLD a larger role inside World’s financial product as the company expands the app beyond identity verification into payments, transfers and digital-asset services.
