A fake Xaman Wallet page on X has attempted to entice XRP Ledger users to participate in what it presented as a new governance proposal.

The post asked users to review the proposal and vote, but Xaman Wallet founder Wietse Wind quickly identified the page as fraudulent to warn XRP holders.

The incident highlights the need for XRP Ledger users to verify official sources before interacting with governance-related posts.

Fake Xaman Page Promotes Governance Proposal

The fraudulent page claimed that “a fresh governance proposal has landed on Xaman,” encouraging users following the ecosystem to review the supposed proposal and “share your position through the vote.”

The message ended with a direct instruction to participate. However, the post did not represent an authentic Xaman announcement, according to Wind.

Wietse Wind, Xaman founder, replied with a simple warning: “Scam!”

His response directly rejected the page’s legitimacy. This warns users not to engage with the content as presented.

The warning is particularly relevant because scammers can use familiar cryptocurrency brands and ecosystem terminology to make fraudulent posts appear credible. References to governance proposals can also encourage users to act quickly without independently checking whether the announcement came from an official source.

Xaman Founder Issues Direct Warning

Wind’s response came as the fake page attempted to present itself as a legitimate Xaman-related source. His one-word warning made clear that the page was not an authentic Xaman initiative.

The incident also drew a response from an X user identified as Oztinuh, who said that fake accounts of this type appear frequently. The user wrote, “These seem to be never-ending, and some even with Golden check marks! I just reported.”

The comment highlighted another concern for cryptocurrency users. Verification indicators on social media do not necessarily prove that an account represents the official organization it claims to represent. Therefore, users should examine account details and confirm announcements through established official channels.

Users Urged To Verify Xaman Announcements

The fake governance post shows how scammers can target active cryptocurrency communities by presenting fraudulent voting opportunities. A legitimate-looking request to participate in a proposal can become particularly dangerous if it directs users toward an external website or asks them to connect a wallet.

Wind’s warning provides the clearest takeaway from the incident: users should treat unexpected Xaman governance announcements with caution and verify their authenticity before taking any action.

For XRP Ledger users, checking Xaman’s established communication channels rather than relying solely on an X post can help distinguish genuine announcements from fraudulent attempts. The incident also reinforces the importance of never entering wallet credentials, recovery information, or signing transactions simply because a social media account claims to represent Xaman.
