  • Stellar's privacy technology could help institutions protect transaction details while preserving public settlement and controlled auditor access.
  • DTCC has chosen Stellar as its multichain partner, while it is expected that DTC-tokenized assets will be available on the chain in the first part of 2027.
  • Stellar reported $11.4 billion in second-quarter stablecoin transfers, up 72% quarterly, alongside expanding tokenized asset activity.

XLM is drawing attention as Stellar develops privacy features designed to support institutional finance without abandoning public blockchain settlement.

Stellar Develops Privacy Tools for Institutional Finance

X Finance Bull urged XLM holders to examine CEO Denelle Dixon's comments about blockchain privacy. Dixon described institutions retaining public verification while restricting sensitive information at the application layer. This approach addresses concerns about exposing payment amounts, treasury movements and commercial positions.

The distinction extends beyond simply concealing transaction values. The institutions may require confidential transfers while providing access for auditors and authorized persons. These controls could help regulated financial activities to become more viable on public blockchain infrastructure.

Stellar's Protocol 25, or X-Ray, debuted in January 2026. It enabled support of zero-knowledge proof applications with BN254 and Poseidon/Poseidon2. These cryptographic properties can be used to verify without disclosing everything.

In the ecosystem, OpenZeppelin and Nethermind have developed privacy-focused applications. Confidential Tokens enable selective disclosure and balances and transfers are masked. Stellar Private Payments allows hiding of amounts and relationships between a sender and a recipient in its privacy pool.

Institutional Adoption Expands Across Tokenized Assets

OpenZeppelin has also published an architecture for confidential stablecoins. Its proposed controls include identity checks, account restrictions, auditor access and recovery mechanisms. These features address requirements that may arise when institutions manage regulated digital assets.

U.S. Bank completed a USBDC cross-border pilot between North America and Europe. The initiative followed earlier work involving PwC and the Stellar Development Foundation. It provides an example of institutional experimentation with blockchain-based payments.

DTCC selected Stellar as part of its multichain tokenization strategy. DTC-tokenized assets are anticipated on the network during the first half of 2027. The planned integration could expand Stellar's role in securities infrastructure, subject to implementation.

Franklin Templeton already offers its BENJI investment product through Stellar. Amundi, Spiko and WisdomTree have also used the network for tokenized investment products. Their participation demonstrates activity beyond conventional cryptocurrency transfers and trading.

The wider ecosystem includes Société Générale-FORGE, AllUnity, DWS, Flow Traders and Galaxy. Regulated euro stablecoins EURCV and EURAU also feature in the supplied institutional landscape. Meanwhile, MoneyGram, Visa, Wirex and PayPal represent distribution connections associated with digital payment services.

Network Activity and XLM Demand Remain Central

The supplied figures place Stellar's tokenized real-world assets at approximately $4 billion. Second-quarter 2026 stablecoin transfer volume reportedly reached $11.4 billion, increasing 72% quarter-over-quarter. Payment volume in the first quarter of the year reported at stablecoin $5.5 billion.

These are activity categories and should not be used as synonyms of each other. Transfer volume measures movement instead of payment volume, which measures payment activity. Another element of the emerging financial fabric of the network, tokenized asset value.

The material does not include the current price of XLM. The figures therefore do not provide an absolute price target, or a price outlook. It is still unclear if increased institutional participation also leads to continued demand for the native token.

Greater network usage could increase demand through transaction fees and smart-contract execution. Account reserves and liquidity routing may also contribute to XLM's utility. However, the scale of any effect depends on application design and actual transaction activity.

Institutional adoption alone does not guarantee proportional appreciation in XLM's market price. Fees may remain relatively small, while some applications could require limited amounts of the native token. Continued growth in privacy-enabled payments and tokenization would provide further evidence of Stellar's commercial traction.

The period through 2027–2030 offers a timeframe for assessing these developments. Privacy controls could help institutions use public settlement without exposing every commercial detail. Whether that progress produces durable demand for XLM will depend on implementation, adoption and measurable network usage.
