In Brief:

  • XRP active addresses averaged 35,700 daily in August, rising roughly 35% from July despite the cryptocurrency still trading near $1.00.
  • New XRP addresses remained nearly unchanged at 2,260 daily, showing increased network activity has not produced comparable growth among participants.
  • XRP remains roughly 69% below its January 2025 peak, creating a divergence between stronger network engagement and weaker market performance.

XRP active addresses climbed considerably in August despite the cryptocurrency trading around its weakest level since November 2024. According to Santiment Intelligence, existing XRP Ledger participants drove the increase, while new-address creation remained almost unchanged.

Daily active addresses averaged approximately 35,700 during August, compared with roughly 26,400 throughout July. This represents an increase of about 35% between both periods. Meanwhile, XRP closed near $1.00 on August 12, marking its lowest daily close since November 2024. Moreover, the cryptocurrency sits roughly 69% below its January 2025 peak near $3.30.

Santiment’s chart covers XRP price movements and address activity between May 15 and August 12. XRP traded around $1.43 near the beginning of that period before gradually moving toward $1. However, declining prices did not prevent existing network participants from increasing their activity. August 11 recorded the highest daily active-address figure since June 5.

XRP User Growth Fails to Match Rising Network Activity

New-address creation presents a considerably different picture from the increase in active addresses. XRP recorded approximately 2,260 new addresses daily during August, compared with around 2,270 during July.

Consequently, new-address creation declined by approximately 0.4% between the two periods.  This marginal change indicates that increased activity has not accompanied significant growth among new network participants.

Santiment characterized the development as higher activity without corresponding expansion in the user base. Existing wallets therefore appear to account for much of the additional XRP Ledger activity.

Additionally, active-address growth can reflect transfers, trading and repeated transactions among existing participants. Higher activity alone does not necessarily represent an equivalent increase in XRP adoption.

New-address creation provides additional context because it measures wallets appearing on the network for the first time. August’s figures show this metric has remained largely unchanged from July.

XRP Price Weakness Contrasts With Higher Network Engagement

XRP’s price performance makes the increase in active addresses particularly notable. Network engagement strengthened while the asset moved toward its lowest closing level in nearly two years.

Moreover, XRP remains considerably below its January 2025 peak despite greater activity from existing addresses. This creates a clear separation between network engagement, user growth, and market performance.

Stronger growth across active and new addresses would provide broader evidence of expanding XRP Ledger participation. For now, only active-address activity has recorded a meaningful increase. Santiment’s figures therefore point toward greater engagement from XRP’s existing network participants rather than a major influx of new wallets.

Conclusion

XRP’s August network data shows active addresses rising roughly 35% while new-address creation remains near July levels. Meanwhile, XRP has fallen approximately 69% from its January 2025 peak.

The figures indicate stronger activity among existing participants without matching growth in new addresses. This distinction remains central to interpreting XRP’s latest on-chain activity.
