SBI Holdings has put a number on something the XRP community has long suspected. The Japanese financial giant holds Ripple shares worth ¥6.6 trillion ($41.9 billion).

Crypto commentator BankXRP (@BankXRP) posted the figure, drawing widespread reaction from XRP holders. The disclosure came from SBI Holdings Director Yasuo Nishikawa, sitting in for Chairman Yoshitaka Kitao, during a company presentation.

That number is not a projection. It reflects the current assessed value of SBI’s stake in Ripple Labs. For a company that has backed Ripple for over a decade, the valuation confirms just how deep that commitment runs.

XRP Army Reacts

Many in the community share their excitement. One commenter valued Ripple at $450 billion based on this disclosure. Another commenter described SBI’s holdings as a loaded gun with the safety on. This suggests that the company is heavily invested and watching carefully to see how the CLARITY Act develops before making key strategic moves.

Another echoed the same sentiment, stating that even the government is monitoring the CLARITY Act. This landmark crypto bill could significantly change the landscape, and the XRP community is eager to see how it develops and how SBI follows up.

A Partnership Built Over Years

SBI Holdings owns roughly 9% of Ripple Labs. The relationship began over a decade ago and has expanded steadily. In 2016, SBI established SBI Ripple Asia, a joint venture created to bring Ripple’s payment technology across Japan and Southeast Asia.

SBI Remit later adopted the ledger for cross-border transfers, giving the technology a live operational role inside one of Japan’s largest financial groups.

The company has not kept XRP at arm’s length either. In May, six SBI subsidiaries began distributing XRP directly to shareholders. SBI VC Trade also started distributing Ripple’s stablecoin RLUSD in Japan on March 31.

Watching the CLARITY Act

Director Nishikawa spoke plainly about XRP’s current price behavior. He said XRP price is “sluggish / remaining subdued, as if waiting to assess the status of the Clarity Act.” That observation matches what many in the XRP community have argued for months.

The CLARITY Act is pending in the U.S. Senate. The bill has not yet reached a floor vote, but it remains eligible whenever Senate leadership schedules one.

SBI Holds Its Position

SBI is not moving hastily. With ¥6.6 trillion in Ripple shares, the company has every incentive to monitor how U.S. legislation develops before its next move. The XRP community sees SBI’s continued involvement as a meaningful signal.

Few institutional players have matched SBI’s depth of commitment to Ripple and XRP across multiple product lines, partnerships, and years of active deployment.
