XRP is now available on near.com, the all-in-one crypto app from @NEARProtocol, with confidential transactions enabled by default. Users can deposit $XRP directly from the XRP Ledger, swap it for other assets and use it to make payments.
What the XRP integration offers
The listing means XRP holders can move funds into the app without first converting to another asset. Once inside, they can swap XRP for other tokens or spend it, all from a single interface.
Privacy is the main selling point. @XRP transactions on near.com are confidential by default, which keeps sender addresses, amounts and routing off public $NEAR explorers. A recipient receives the funds without seeing the sender's address or wallet history. Routing is handled by @near_intents, NEAR's system for swapping assets across chains.
The feature builds on NEAR's wider privacy push. CoinDesk reported that near.com launched in February as a super app, with a confidential mode that keeps balances, transfers and trading activity private within the network's security framework. NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin said at the time that onchain transparency is not realistic for day-to-day use.
How confidential execution works
According to NEAR's own documentation on Confidential Intents, transactions run on a NEAR private shard, a dedicated execution environment operated by a decentralized set of independent, permissioned validators. It connects to NEAR mainnet through a bridge based on trusted execution environments (TEEs). When a user goes confidential on near.com, deposits, transfers and swaps stay out of public view, and funds can be moved between confidential and public accounts at any time.
The design has limits. An explainer from the LeoDex exchange notes that this is confidentiality rather than anonymity, because deposits into and withdrawals out of the system remain visible on public chains.
Demand for the feature appears to be real. NEAR said in a general availability announcement that over 40% of volume across near.com used Confidential Mode within weeks of launch. That figure comes from NEAR itself and has not been independently verified.
For XRP holders, the addition offers a way to swap and pay across chains without exposing wallet history on public explorers. The XRP Ledger is also among the networks supported by NEAR's recently launched NEAR Business treasury platform, according to Crypto Briefing.
