XRP(XRP) is facing its strongest derivatives selling pressure of 2026, even as open interest climbs and large futures orders return.
Key Points:
- Binance net taker volume fell to -$96 million, marking the strongest selling push reported this year.
- Binance open interest rose about 14.8%, showing traders continued to open positions despite heavier sell-side pressure.
- Large futures orders appeared alongside XRP's rebound, while taker flow remained dominated by sellers.
XRP Sell Pressure
XRP derivatives activity intensified after Binance net taker volume fell to -$96 million, a level that marked the strongest aggressive selling push reported this year. Selling pressure is unusually high.
The figures came as Binance open interest increased about 14.8%, indicating that traders were still adding positions instead of broadly leaving the futures market. New leverage is still entering.
That combination is important because falling net taker volume and rising open interest can occur together when fresh positions enter a market where sellers remain more aggressive. The market is not simply losing participation.
A 90-day taker cumulative volume delta reading also showed “sell dominance,” according to CryptoQuant data cited in the report, reinforcing the bearish signal already visible in Binance taker activity.

Binance Futures Activity
Seller pressure has not pushed larger participants away. XRP futures average order size showed large orders appearing around the token's recent price rebound, suggesting bigger traders had returned as activity increased.
Futures volume also moved into what the cited CryptoQuant bubble map classified as heating and overheating territory, showing broader participation even while taker flow continued to favor sellers. That keeps the signal mixed.
The next move depends on whether demand can absorb the selling.
Continued pressure could keep XRP consolidating, while a stronger advance could put growing short positions under pressure and potentially trigger a squeeze.
XRP had already rebounded strongly from its latest lows before these derivatives signals intensified, leaving a clear split between firmer price action, rising futures participation and seller-dominated taker flow.
