As XRP trades at $1.34, a pivotal threshold forms on its chart, indicating the potential for a short-term directional shift. The 50-day moving average hovers around $1.39, while the 200-day moving average lingers near $1.38. The narrow gap between these averages has brought the possibility of a death cross—a closely watched bearish signal in the market—into focus.

Narrowing Moving Averages Signal Potential Cross

A death cross occurs when a short-term moving average falls below a long-term average. While often seen as a stark warning, this indicator operates with a delay. XRP’s decline from $1.66 at the end of September to $1.34 has pulled the 50-day average downward. Thus, any potential crossing may not herald new declines but rather confirm the recent weeks’ weakness.

Technical indicators, however, can influence market behavior, especially signals followed by a broad investor base. Despite their inability to determine direction independently, such indicators might intensify selling pressure as a psychological factor.

XRP’s potential death cross is interpreted more as a delayed signal verifying recent pullbacks rather than signaling a fresh downturn.

$1.34 Support Level Holds Strong

The ability of XRP to maintain its position above the orange support line near $1.34 emerges as the most critical short-term factor. This area has been a price-supporting zone since August’s rally. Recently, sellers briefly dipped below this level, yet buyers managed to elevate the price again. The wick dropping to $1.28 suggests sustained buying interest at lower levels.

Today’s limited recovery signifies that defense is not entirely lost. However, for this rebound to be considered robust, XRP must not only remain above support but also achieve more decisive closes atop it.

Volume and RSI Offer Mixed Signals

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains around 40, indicating sellers’ dominance while suggesting the market hasn’t reached oversold territory. Trading volume has weakened compared to August and September, further complicating the outlook.

The volume decline during the price drop might indicate waning seller strength. Conversely, it could also reflect limited buyer interest. Without a clear increase in volume, there is caution concerning the sustainability of any upward corrections.

If XRP establishes itself above $1.40, it could surpass both the 50 and 200-day averages, potentially neutralizing the death cross threat.

Upcoming Closures to Dictate Trajectory

Should XRP close below the $1.34 support or the $1.28 floor, the next focal region might be $1.25. Below this, the $1.15 to $1.20 range could come into play. In such a scenario, the downward alignment of moving averages may accelerate selling.

Conversely, closes above $1.40 could ease the technical outlook, positioning XRP above both short- and long-term averages. Such a recovery could rekindle interest in levels like $1.45 and subsequently $1.55. The key factor determining direction in the near term will be the location of several upcoming daily closes.
